oh yeah

And also, Logan decided to pour milk over his head and all of the way down the hall from the living room to my bedroom. I made him clean it all up. I couldn't even be upset with him because he looked like a drowned rat. Here are some pics.

30 March 2010 AWESOME NEWS

I just got awesome news from Paul. His file has come back from Ottawa and they have ruled that he will remain an ACS tech and that he will re-commence his apprenticeship training. This means that he won't have to pick a new trade and go away to Borden for a year or more. We are very happy!!! We will be in Comox for at least another 4 years maybe longer!!!

Also I am planning on going to Lilith concert in pitt meadows air park on canada day. Tickets go on sale on Saturday. Let me know if anyone is interested in going with me. Sarah Maclachlan, sheryl crowe, etc.

29 March 2010

I am getting better with my updates. Has only been a week since my last one!!!
I had my expres test (fitness test). I achieved my exemption so I don't have to do another one for 2 years. Was great. Then we had a 1 hr volleyball practice that night. It was soooooooooooo much fun. Then I had to pick up Logan from the hockey arena at 1705 because Paul had a hockey game at 1730. We hung out for a little while at the arena and Logan enjoyed himself.

Then we came home and hung out while Paul played hockey. Wednesday I had volleyball again from 1720-2000. We had a game from 1800-2000. It was awesome. We played an under 18 team and won the first set and they won the second and I don't think we finished the third. Was great!! Then we went out to the Griffin for a drink after. Paul also had hockey that night so we had a sitter come at 1815-2100. I was home at 2105. Paul said that Logan pooed before he left so he bathed him and he pooed again in the tub. Paul wasn't impressed.

Paul was on holiday for thursday and friday which was nice because he stayed up really late wednesday night having drinks with a buddy that is moving. I got to bed at 2330. Logan woke up at 0500 and ran down and jumped in to bed with us. Paul got up and took Tikka for a run and I packed up some food for our trip and Logan's stuff etc. We took off just after 1100 or so for Parksville to drop off Logan with Aunt Margie and Uncle Jerry. We had a nice visit there for a bit and then left at around 1345 to catch the 1500 ferry which we had reserved. In retrospect we probably would have been okay to not reserve it. We got to our hotel at around 1720 or so. Traffic over the Lions Gate bridge was a nightmare. Our hotel was on Robson. Was great. We checked in and were expecting 2 twin beds but we ended up getting a king. We were soooooooooooooo happy. There was also a nice duvet. We were on the 23rd floor with a harbour view. Not too shabby. We had a $7 cab down to the shark club at the sandman where we had supper. They had the country music cranked so it was great to pump us up before the concert. Then we headed over. The Trailers opened, then Lady Antebellum and then Tim McGraw. They were soooooooooooooooooooooo awesome. WE were in row 14 on the floor and the stage extened to 5 rows past us down the middle. Were were like 6 or 7 seats from Tim at some times. We had a wonderful time. We are pretty sure that that was the 2nd time since Logan was born that we have been away together overnight without him. The other time was Merritt mountain musicfest in 2007 when Dad babysat. After the concert we walked back to the hotel which was about 25 minutes away. It was raining a bit but a nice walk. We stopped at the Fog n' suds pub for a beer and nachos on the way back. We were in bed by 0100 or so. Paul woke up at 0830 so we got up and went to our buffet breakfast that was included in our room price. Was good. That was on the 46th floor. It is a revolving restaurant but it doesn't revolve at breakfast. We were all packed up and leaving the hotel parking lot by 1000. We hauled A** and arrived at the ferry at 1020 but they were full so we had to wait for the 1230 ferry. When we got to Nanaimo we stopped at the wholesale sports store and took a look around. Sort of like a smaller scale Bass Pro shop. We picked up a Buzz Lightning fishing rod for Logan. Then we stopped at Michaels and I found some clearance items super cheap. Was awesome. I got a $105 cuttlebug letter die cut set for $25. Then we stopped at Costco. I was able to pick up an adorable 3 piece Calvin Klein button up shirt, t-shirt and jean shorts for Logan for $20. I picked up a roots bathing suit for me, 2 pairs of capri shorts, and 3 pairs of shorts for me and a pair of jeans for Paul. I picked up a couple of ladies shirts for me but they are too small so I have to return them.

Then we went to Marjorie and Jerry's. They had a blast with Logan. We are so grateful and happy to have them. We took them out to BP for supper so that was nice as well. We got home at around 1930 or so if I remember correctly.

Dad called on Friday to say that Great Uncle Bill passed away. (My Grandpa's brother) I think the funeral is today. RIP Uncle Bill.

Saturday Paul had his biology lab up in campbell river. He left at around 0810 or so and made it home by 1330 or so. I took Logan and Tikka for a big walk. I had to carry him on my shoulders for a bit because he got tired of walking (Logan). After Paul got home he rotated the tires on the truck and his car. I rented movies since he was going out to watch the UFC at the mess. Logan and I made popcorn and watched the "Blind Side". It was sooooooooooooooooooooo good. We loved it. Then I put him to bed at 2200. Paul was home shortly after that.

Sunday morning Paul was up early to go to the Mountain to patrol. Logan got up at around 0700 but was quietly playing in his room. I went up at 0800 to get him and change his poopy bum. Then we played for a bit and then had breakfast and got ready for church. I made him sit in the pew with me this time. He is used to sitting in the playroom and playing the whole time but I wanted to sit in the pew. He wasn't happy but was pretty well behaved. Then we came home. We had lunch and then he went to his room for his nap from 1300-1500. I was down in my scraproom having some fun. Then we started to watch Up in the Air and I was using my treadmill for a bit. Then I took Tikka and Logan to the park for a walk. I did bench jump ups. Worked well. After that, we came home. Paul got home at around 1730 or so. We had supper and then he bathed Logan and Paul watched 60 minutes while I finished watching my movie on the projector downstairs. It is really great down there now for movies. Then the 3 of us watched tv in the bedroom till 2200. I fell asleep and then Paul put Logan up in his room.

Today Paul is on a work ski day at Mt Washington. Will be fun for him. Logan and I are hanging around. We have to make a run to the post office to mail some stuff and buy more stamps. Then tonight I have volleyball practice from 1600-1800.

Wednesday I have volleyball again and Paul has hockey. We are planning on camping on thursday and friday night at the air force beach campground here by the base. Should be fun. Then my friend Michael from Halifax is coming up for a day or 2 visit. He is in Victoria for the next month and a half. He has never met Logan yet so I am very excited about that and to see him again. He is like a brother to me!

Well, that's all for now. We have some serious potty training on the go so I have to be attentive.

Sunday March 21st

Things didn't go so well skiing with Logan last Saturday. We lasted an hour before we left the mountain. He is just too young... Then we came home. Paul was going to ski Sunday but decided to spend the day with us which was nice. I had my shift from Wed-Sun morning and that was good.

this Thursday night Paul and I are heading to Vancouver to see Tim McGraw. Lady Antebellum is opening for him and we are in the 14th row on the floor so it should be a great time. Paul is taking Friday off so that will be nice as well. Aunt Marjorie and Uncle Jerry are watching Logan for us!

Volleyball is going well. I am managing to knock my rust off but my old body is sore quite a bit. I have my express test tomorrow (fitness test) which shouldn't be a problem. I also have an appointment to return lots of my kit from Afghanistan so that will be good.

Paul went skiing today and got at least 12 runs in so he was super happy.

That is all for now.

11 March 2010

Happy 20th Anniversary to Dad & Lynn. It was on the 10th but didn't blog yesterday!

Things are going pretty good around here. We are just taking things one day at a time.

Paul patrolled Saturday afternoon/night and Logan and I went to a bbq at Gill & Brandon's with all of the scrapgirls and Brandon and Dale. It was awesome. The food was yummy. Then I left at around 1900 to come home and bathe Logan and get him ready for bed. He was soooooooooooo tired he fell asleep in my arms on the couch at 2030. Earlier I took him grocery shopping and he fell asleep sitting up in the cart so I had to hold his head with one hand and push the cart with my elbows. Was so cute. He was a tired little monkey. I went back to work on Sunday so Paul had Logan all day. I was able to make it to church to join them so that was nice. Didn't get home till after 2000 hrs so I was tired. Logan was still up so got to spend some time with him before bed. Then same thing on Monday. Paul took Logan to daycare and picked him up because I was at work from 0715 till 2000 hrs once again. I was able to get him ready in the morning and feed him to help Paul out. Then on Tuesday I was nights. Am trying to find the best mix to get some rest. I got up with Logan and got him ready and had him at daycare by 0900. Then I came home and tidied up things. Then I slept from 1030 or so till 1400 and then had to go to the grocery store, mail a package of books to Robyn & Rolly, and then come home. Paul picked up Logan and I was going to sleep from 1600-1800 but couldn't because I wanted to spend time with them. Paul took Tikka to the park and I played with Logan. Then we had supper together, and then I showered, bathed Logan, and got ready for work and headed out. Things were super quiet and since there was 2 of us on shift, and I am not "fully checked out" to work on my own, I was able to come home at 2230 to go to sleep. It was super quiet so he let me go. Then I was up at 0530 to head back in for 0620. I got Logan up and ready at 0600 to help out Paul again. Then I went in to work till 0730 and then came home. This time I cleaned Logan's bathroom, scrubbed down the counters, emptied the dishwasher, de-cluttered the table and counters, dusted and vacuumed. Cleaned the stove top. I can't remember what else but it kept me busy till 1100 and then I went to sleep till 1500. Then I got up and had some food for lunch/supper and then left at 1540 for volleyball practice which was awesome. I am not as rusty as I thought I would be. I am in alot of pain today though. I hurt my knee. The one that always bothers me. I jumped and it hurt when I landed. Not sure what will come of it. Then I left at 1750 to come home and shower, had some of Paul's yummy chicken soup, and then had cuddles with Logan before work. I left at 1900 for 1915 and was at work till 2200 and once again it was quiet so I got to come home. I jam packed those 3 hours of work reading lots of stuff for my job and learning more! Then I didn't have to go in this morning because there was no flights so I didn't have to do any briefings. I got up at 0630 when Logan ran down to the room to wake me. It was nice for Paul that I could take Logan to daycare. I got him ready, fed him breakfast, and then we played a bit with some of his puzzles. I had him at daycare at 0800 and then I came home. I managed to spend the first hour cleaning up the garage. I can't wait for Paul to see it. It is super clean. I hope he is impressed because he was talking about cleaning it this weekend and now it is done. You can actually move around in there. Then I spent the next hour cleaning up more boxes in our basement. It looks so much better now. Then I vacuumed the basement and the laundry room and then did the stairs. It is now 1137 so I think I will go and have some lunch. I am hobbling around from being so sore from volleyball. I have practice again Friday night at 1600-1800 and then we are going to Tita's for nachos as a team so that will be fun.

I am on days off now till next Wednesday so that is super nice. Logan is at daycare because normally after a nightshift I will be tired and will need to sleep alot that day. I have him the next 4 days in a row and then he will go back to daycare the day before my next shift. I am going to take Logan swimming tomorrow which I think will be fun. Then I have volleyball practice next Monday and a game on wednesday!

We may go up to the hill on saturday and try some family skiing. Will have to rent skis for Logan and I and Paul will ski with Logan since he is way better than me. Hopefully it will be fun. We all have passes which Logan and I have never used yet so we will see. If it doesn't work out we can probably go tubing while we wait for Paul to have some ski time on the big hills!

We hope everyone is well.

Logan can now say "Hacker" and it is the cutest thing.

6 March 0840

We got some really good news yesterday. The Doctor called and said that I had a "normal miscarriage" as opposed to a Molar Pregnancy resulting in miscarriage. http://www.babycenter.ca/pregnancy/complications/molar/

This means that we won't have to wait a year to try and get pregnant again. We can try again after one or two normal periods.

I'm feeling a little better each day. Hard to not feel better when we have Logan around. He is soooooooooooo wonderful.

I have other good news. Dad is flying out for a visit from 10 April - 25 April so I can't wait.

I start my shift work tomorrow. Days on the 7th and 8th from 0700-1930, and then Nights on the 9th and 10th from 1915-0730. I am still on shift with someone else for the next 2 rotations though.

3 March 2010

Things have been super busy with work and all and me being super tired. Paul has been busy patrolling and working on his biology course. Logan is doing well. He is a wonderful caring little boy. He is the light of our life!

I was sick on last wednesday. I was very nauseaus and had a headache all day. Then I was super excited about last weekend because Angela was flying in thursday night and Jen and Nate on Friday and we were scrapbooking all day Friday and Saturday and part of Sunday. Thursday night Angela's flight was delayed and she got in at 2140 (9:40 PM for Barb) instead of 1850 (6:50PM). I went to pick her up and we had a great visit till around midnight and then it was bed time. Logan woke us up at 0600 on Friday. I got up and fed him and showered and then took him to daycare at 0730. Then Angela and I puttered around for a bit and then headed to Barb's for a wonderful day of scrapbooking. We had the best day ever. I finished my Europe mini album and did at least 10 layouts. Then Barb made us awesome quesadillas for supper. Then Gill and Jen showed up at 1900 (7PM) and we were totally surprised because we didn't think they were coming till saturday so we were super happy. I was feeling a little off that night so I left at 2230 to go home and get some sleep. Logan was still up when I got home so was nice to hang out with him for a bit because I was a little worried that he thought I had went away because Daddy picked him up from daycare and he didn't see me till late. He was super happy to see me.

Then Saturday I got up and hung out with Paul and Logan for a bit. Then I headed back over to Barb's. Barb made awesome Monkey Buns. I loved them alot!!! We had a great day. There was Gill, Jen, Barb, Angela and me. I wasn't as creative as Friday but it was super fun to visit and scrapbook and I made some cards. Then we went out to the Old House for Supper and I had some spotting. I didn't know if it was a big deal or anything and then when we got back to Barb's just before 2200 I had way more spotting and lots of blood in the toilet so I called Paul and Angela, Gill and Jen went to our house to watch Logan in case he woke up. Barb, Paul and I went to emerg. They did a blood test to verify that I was pregnant. We waited for a long time and then finally saw the doctor at 0130. He asked me alot of questions and then wanted me to sleep there but said it was my choice. The room was very cold and the bed was crappy. I was exhausted, and didn't want to be alone so I chose to go home with Paul. The Doctor did a pelvic exam and told me that I could be having an ectopic pregnancy, a miscarriage, or I was fine and the bleeding was normal. We didn't know what to think. He wanted us to come in Sunday for an ultrasound. We got home just after 0200 and Angela headed home with Barb. I slept till 0700 when Logan woke us up and then I got up and Paul made me some eggs and toast. Then the hospital called at 1000 and told us to come in for the ultrasound. We went in for the ultrasound and the ultrasound tech said there was something wrong but wouldn't tell me anything. Then we saw the doctor and he said that my HCG hormone level was only 5000. We found out that I was 11 weeks pregnant and that we conceived at the end of December. My level should have been 80000. This combined with the abnormal ultrasound showed that I miscarried. The Doctor needed to a D&C to analyze the fetal tissue to rule out a "molar Pregnancy". If it is a molar pregnancy we can't get pregnant for a year. We will know in less than 10 days. He doesn't think that was it. He thinks it is just a miscarriage which happens in 25% of all pregnancies. Then they did the D&C and Paul picked me up at 1715 from the hospital. My throat is still very sore from the breathing tube since they put you right out for the surgery. I had no cramping or pain with the miscarriage which also added to my confusion. The weekend started out as the best weekend ever with my girlfriends and then ended up the worst ever losing our baby. We are doing alright. I definitely have my ups and downs. I will be fine one minute and then crying the next. I know we will be better with time. Hopefully we can try again in a couple of months.

I am on a week of sick leave 1-5 March which is helping alot to just be at home and grieve. Paul was home Monday and Tuesday and that really helped. He was also exhausted from the weekend. I work this Sunday and start my shifts. I do four 12 hour days and then have 5 and a bit off. I am looking forward to that. I think it will be better since I like the job as well.

On Monday Barb brought over flowers, and Rolly & Robyn and Mom & Dad H also sent flowers. They were all lovely. Thank you all so much. Yesterday Camille brought me flowers too. Barb, Angela, Jen and Gill have been amazing throughout this ordeal and I am so lucky to have them. Paul has been my rock and has been so wonderful throughout.

We know it was for the best if there was a problem with the baby. I wish I had known that I was pregnant sooner because I would have been more careful but I know that probably wouldn't have made a difference. The only easy thing about this is that we only "knew" we were pregnant for the last 3 weeks. I would have been way worse if I knew all along and then lost the baby at 11 weeks. We were due around Sept 11 2010. We did love the baby already so that is also hard.

I'm sore everywhere. I feel like I was in a car accident. One day at a time though. I know we will be alright.

Love always, Rae-Lynn Paul & Logan.
