30 December 1256

I forgot to mention this morning that I had a terrible fall on boxing day. I was walking out of Mom & Dad's place to go shopping and just got down the steps when I slipped on a patch of ice. I smashed my back off the ice and the back of my head. It hurt like hell and I am still very sore. It felt like I was run over by a car. I am still healing but that was what the Aleve was for. My friend Twyla read my blog post and she just finished up her pharmacy courses at U of T and confirmed that it was the Aleve and gave me some tips on how to better take it to avoid the stomach upset. Thanx Twyla!!

30 December 0504

A lot to catch up on.

My last post was on the 16th of December.

On the 18th Mom and I and Logan went to New Market to do some shopping. Then Mom got me a full body therapeutic massage at the Briers so help out with my sore back. It was soooooooooooooooo good. Duncan was my masseuse for our couples massage last year as well and he was great. Then I came home and hung out with Logan, Nana and Grandpa.

Saturday the 19th we waited for Paul to arrive in Toronto. He was 40 minutes or so late landing but made it back to the house and we were very happy to see him. Bill and Vickie came by to visit with us. We managed to see all of the neighbours while we were home except for Treena and the kids. Was nice to see Chris though. Sunday the 20th we drove down to Aunt Maryann and Uncle Dwight's for our Christmas dinner with Mom H's family. Nana and Papa were there, Mom and Dad, Dwight and Maryann, Eileen and Terry and Michael as well as Paul, myself and Logan. Amy and Steve couldn't make it because they were sick with the flu. We had a wonderful meal and a great visit. Logan was spoiled rotten with more presents. Then that night and Mom and Dad drove home and Paul and I headed to Grandpa H's to overnight. We had a great visit with him and then headed to Kingston on the 21st to have lunch with Steve and Maryann (friends of Paul's). Then we stopped by Nana & Papa's on the way home and had another visit. We also popped back over to say goodbye to Dwight and Maryann. We got back to Mom & Dad's just after 2100. Logan travelled really well but was quite exhausted from the trip. I wanted to leave Logan with Nana Karen but Paul wanted his friends to meet him so that was what we did. On the 22nd Logan went to the park with Grandpa and Daddy and they did some crazy carpet sliding. Logan was upset and didn't want to go and was crying but probably just because he was so hot all bundled up. He ended up having a wonderful time and kept asking to go "again". On the 23rd he got a 4-wheeler ride with Grandpa and loved that. Will post pics when able.

On the 24th we were having our Christmas dinner with Mom and Dad and Amy and Steve were supposed to come and bring up Grandpa H. Unfortunately Amy & Steve were still sick with the flu and Grandpa H decided he didn't want to come so it was Mom & Dad, Paul, myself and Logan. Mom H cooked up a wonderful meal with help from Paul and I. It was soooooooooooooo good. The turkey was the best ever! We opened presents before dinner. Logan got a million presents and was very spoiled. Paul and I were also spoiled. It was great. Paul got me a Sony ebook reader that I love love love. He also got me a gold chain for my charm from Mom & Dad but it didn't fit so had to return it to Costco. It will fit on a chain I have at home so that is good. Mom & Dad got me a nice leather blazer from Danier but unfortunately it didn't fit so I was able to exchange it for a really nice jacket on boxing day. They also got me a book, a gift card for Michaels, a scarf, change purse, suede gloves, and a necklace charm and a nice cloth bag. Was very nice. Paul got a really nice hunting jacket, General Hillier's book and a couple of other books and a ticket to the Montreal Canadiens vs Toronto Maple Leafs boxing day which he went to with Dad and had a great time. Paul and I did some boxing day shopping. I finally convinced Paul that Logan would travel way easier with a portable DVD player and he caved. I was right, Logan totally loves it!!! Yeah!

So as I said, Paul and Dad headed out to the hockey game on boxing day. Amy drove up for a visit and had supper with us. Was great to see her. Steve was still too sick to come.

We had to get up at 0400 on the 27th so Dad could drive us to the airport to head to Winnipeg. We were very sad to leave Mom and Dad but excited to see the rest of the family. Things were crazy at Toronto Airport. Long line to drop off our luggage and an even longer one to go thru security. We were in line for pretty close to an hour to go thru security. Good thing we were at the airport early enough. We made it thru security at 0735 and our boarding time was 0745. We headed to the gate and we boarded a little later so no worries but we were slightly delayed because of how long security took. We ended up landing in Winnipeg on time though.

We picked up our rental car which was a Christmas gift from Dad & Lynn which they decided would save them a trip to Winnipeg. It worked out for the best and we received a free upgrade from National. Instead of a Dodge Calibre we received a Kia Rondo which is a great car. We really like it. We headed straight over to see my Grandma Richard and were able to visit with her from 1100-1215. Then we took her down to her lunch which we had made her late for. We then grabbed some lunch and headed out to visit with Auntie Evelyn and Uncle Dennis and then over to Auntie Olivine and Uncle Bruno's. We had a wonderful visit there and a wonderful supper. Mark and Kathy were also there so that was nice to see them. Kathy is back for 2 weeks from China for the holidays. We were going to see Auntie Linda after Grandma's but no one was home. We found out later that Auntie Linda and Auntie Elsie and Uncle Frank got to Grandma's at 1300 and if we would have known we would have went back after lunch to see them as well. We slept over at Uncle Bruno and Auntie Olivines and Logan was in bed by 1823. He was soooooooooooo tired. Hardly slept all day. He fell asleep on the way to Grandma's and then was woken up for the visit and then fell asleep on the way to Auntie Evelyn's. Poor little guy. We got up at 0545 to make a run in to the city to be able to see Auntie Linda and Uncle Dave before she headed to Teulon to babysit. Was a nice surprise that Rita was there and we got to visit with her as well. Then we popped over to Auntie Elsie and Uncle Frank's for a visit with them as well and Joe & Marcie came so we got to see them too. We forgot Logan's booster seat for the kitchen table at Uncle Bruno's so we had to drive back out there before we were able to head home. We left Uncle's at 1100 and I texted my brother Rick to give him a heads up that we wanted to see him and his family. We got to his play just before 1400 and found out that he hadn't told Candice (his wife) that we were coming. Was funny since I gave Rick a 3 hour notice and Candice thought we gave 10 min notice so I had to set the record straight. Lol.

Logan loved the animal farm that is Rick and Candice's trailer. They have 3 ferrets, some hamsters, a cat and a dog and tons of fish. We visited there for a half hour then Rick had to get back to work so we took off. We picked up Dad's prescription at safeway and then had to stop at wal-mart to pick up some winter boots for Paul. He was freezing since he only had his running shoes and a pair of dress shoes. We picked up some Aleve for me so hopefully that will work for my back.

We arrived in Deloraine at 1700 to an ecstatic Papa Herb and Grandma Lynn. Logan recognized Papa immediately and is always calling Papa to do stuff including his bath. Was great!!! They cooked tacos for supper which was awesome and then we opened prsents. Logan got a toy train (wooden) from Rolly & Robyn for his 2nd birthday, and a set of walkie talkies and the same black & decker kids power tools that Aunt Marjorie and Uncle Jerry got him so we will probably return this set since he has a set at home. Then today the 29th we got up at 0730 (thanx to Logan) and had breakfast and then headed to go and visit my Mom. We stopped in Medora for an hour or so and visited with Rolly and Robyn at work. Was great. Then on to Mom & Duffer's. We got there at 1140. Grandma Edith was visiting Mom so it was great to spend the day with them and visit. More presents again!!!We had lunch there and Mom did a turkey dinner for supper and Rolly and Robyn came after work as well. Was delicious. We left Mom's at 2000. On the way back to Deloraine we stopped in Medora to see Rolly & Robyn's new house. It is sooooooooooo beautiful and wonderfully decorated.

We got to Deloraine at 2300 or so and I gave Logan a bath and then headed to bed. I haven't been feeling good today, and my stomach was upset when I went to bed so I woke up at 0330 and was sick a bit. I just googled Aleve and realize that it is probably that that is upsetting my stomach. Then I purchased some ebooks for my ereader. I am so excited. I bought the notebook which I have seen the movie of but there is a sequel so I wanted to read the book so I can read that. Then I also bought Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, and Stones into Schools which is the sequel to 3cups of tea.

I am looking forward to using my eReader!

So now it is 0530 and I have been up for 2 hours. I am gonna head to bed and hopefully get a few hours.

Tomorrow night Dad is cooking prime rib and Rolly and Robyn are coming over so that will be wonderful!

Love Rae-Lynn, Paul & Logan.

Happy Belated Merry Christmas to everyone. All the best in 2010!

16 December 1135

Despite the huge snow storm in Comox, Nanaimo, Victoria and Vancouver and flights being cancelled the night of the 14th, our flights on the 15th were still a go. We actually landed in Toronto 30 minutes early. Was great. Logan was pretty good although he had some trouble with his ears and wouldn't let me sleep. I was up at 0400 getting ready for our 0625 flight to vancouver. Was great having him in the car seat beside me. When we landed Mom H was there to meet us right at the baggage so I didn't have to try and get out to her. Was awesome. Then we drove back here to Sutton. We had a blast last night. Logan loves playing with his Nana and vice versa. They are best buds. The spoiling has started. She got him some adorable clothes, a Toy Story book, a cars placemat, cup with straw, and a pillow. He loves Cars so much!!!

It is snowing here quite a bit right now. Mom is at work. I think Grandpa will come home tonight and work from home tomorrow. He is pretty excited to see the little man.

So awesome that Nana & Grandpa have highspeed internet now. I hate not being connnected.

Looking forward to Paul getting here on the 19th.

Love Rae-Lynn & Logan (from Ontario) and Paul still in Courtenay.

13 DECEMBER 1854

Hi everyone.

Friday Logan and I did some running around town a bit. He enjoyed the carousel horse ride at the mall. He wanted to go again but I only had 1 loonie so he had to be content with that.

Then he went down for a nap at 1600 so he wouldn't be rangy for the babysitter. Amber babysat and I headed to Paul's ACS party at Tina's. We had a great time. Lots of ping pong. We didn't get home till 0100. We were pretty tired on saturday since we are never up that late. Then we got up and got dressed up nice for pictures at Gill's house. Logan was less than cooperative but I saw some great shots. Can't wait to get the family pics back!!! Then we headed home and we all napped for a bit. Then I wrapped up Logan's presents and the presents for Marjorie and Jerry. They got here at around 1600 or so. We hung out and Logan opened his presents. He got an awesome spiderman papasan chair from Brenda (his daycare Lady), and an awesome black and decker junior toy tools kit, and a spider man figure that moves around when you push the button. He also got a nice t-shirt from Hawaii from Tammy & Mark, Madison & Ryan, and then he got a remote control car for toddlers from Mommy & Daddy as well as an electronic dump truck that dances and talks. He loves everything. Gill also gave him a little bag of treats that he loved!!

Then Saturday night Paul and I headed to the 407 sqn Christmas party. There was only around 140 people there and the prizes were crappy this year. Didn't matter, we didn't win anything. All my friends were there so that was great. The meal was also wonderful. Paul walked over to the 19 AMS party for around an hour at one point. Then we got a ride home with Phil & Camille so we were home by 2330. Our earliest time home after the party. Was good though. Jerry was still up. Then this morning Logan got up and M & J looked after him until we got up. He got up at 0800 I think and we got up at 0830. Paul was violently ill at 0200. He thinks he ate too much. Was awful. Maybe it was the beef. Not sure. We didn't get any pics of us before we went out. Can't wait to get the pics from Phil & Camille and Nadine and Dave.

Logan didn't pooh since last Thursday on the potty so I figured it would happen this morning. He was hiding in the pantry and Paul smelled some farts so we put him on the potty. He didn't really want to go on it but he did. I read him so books to distract him and shortly after (5 min), he said ouch and then took the biggest pooh right into the toilet. I was sooooooooooooooooooo proud of him. Also yesterday morning he asked for potty and took a pee and then again today at 1600 he asked for the potty. He is such a little sweetheart. Then M&J headed home much to our chagrin. We love spending time with them. Then we went to the family skate. We forgot Logan's helmet so Paul had to drive all of the way home to get it and then come back. Logan wore his bob skates. He had fun but we only got around 15 minutes of ice time.

I have been sick since Friday night after Paul's party. Maybe the late night wore me out. My throat is killing me and now I have a running nose. Hope it goes away soon. Tomorrow Logan is going to daycare so I can bottle our wine at 1230. I am also going for a massage at 1000 since my back is still so screwed. I am like a little old lady crossed with the hunchback of Notre Dame.

Tuesday, Logan and I fly out to Ontario!!! Will be a good trip.

Love Rae-Lynn, Paul & Logan.

10 December 2038

Monday I had my medical and it went fine. I got a thyroid test so we'll see what comes of that. Then I picked up Paul at 0945 for a meeting with the BPSO. Nothing came of it. We just found out what trades were open. Then I took him to lunch and then dropped him back at work and I came home for a nap and then picked up Logan and went to visit Barb for a bit. Then we came home and hung out with Paul.

Tuesday Logan and I headed to Nanaimo to the mall to get my rings cleaned and then we picked up some stuff at Costco. We had a blast at the mall. Logan rode around in the little car. I picked up some replacement shoes/boots for the ones that Paul destroyed cause he thought they were ratty. I also picked up a new pair of knee high boots since mine really hurt my feet. Then we stopped off in Parksville at the bowling alley to see Aunt Marjorie and Uncle Jerry. Was great to see them.

Wednesday Logan and I and Auntie Gill went swimming. Logan had a blast as always and made me laugh tons. Was great hanging out with Gill. Then we came home and did some cleaning and then took a big nap together. Paul had hockey wednesday night. He scored 3 goals at hockey at work on tuesday. We just found out that Grandpa Art passed away on wednesday morning so it was super sad as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with Grandma Edith at this time. Unfortunately we won't be able to make the funeral on Monday but we will see her at the end of December.

Today, Logan actually slept in till 0800 which was nice and then came to wake me up! Was a nice surprise for Mommy as well. Then we got up and got ready to go and visit Barb and Gary and Gill was there too. Was fun. We were there from 0930-1115 and then we came home to make lunch for Emilie who was popping over to say hi. Was a great visit and great to see her. She leaves in Jan for training in Gagetown and most likely won't be back. :< So sad. I may be buying her scooter though. Is a great deal and I have always wanted one. We'll see what happens. Paul gave blood today and registered to take biology 12 at North Island College which is a pre-req f for medical technician which will most likely be his 2nd choice. Then we had a great supper of curried chicken, with fries and a caesar salad.

Of note today when we were hanging out Logan was super quiet and I didn't know where he was. I found him on all 4's on the rug in the kitchen taking a poo. I picked him up and put him on his potty and he took another huge poo in his potty which was his first. Was so proud of him!!! He was proud too. We did a little dance in the kitchen and both were yelling YEAH for a long time. He did sooooooooooooo good. Then tonight I bathed him and put him to bed. He was crying quite a bit because he didn't go for his nap today. Then I vacuumed the house and tidied up. Paul went to bed at 2000 since he said he wasn't feeling very well.

Tomorrow night is Paul's ACS party. Not sure if I am going but he is. Then Saturday we have family photos with Gill and then Marjorie and Jerry are coming up. We may go skating from 1200-1300 and then Saturday night is my 407 SQN party so they will sleep over and watch Logan for us. Sunday will be recovery....

I think that's it for now.

Oh yeah, it snowed here today. Just a light dusting but still was annoying. I hate snow!!! LOL

Love Rae-Lynn, Paul & Logan

06 DECEMBER 2000

Wednesday night Paul had CPR course from 1800-2130 or so. Logan and I hung out and tidied up the house. Thursday I can't remember what we did, nor can I remember Friday. Lots of family time. Friday night Paul went to his TGIF and then we had pizza for supper.

Saturday Paul headed up to the Mountain for patrolling and Logan and I got moving and went to the Christmas Party at the Officer's mess. There was pancakes, and sausages, and a bouncy castle that Logan was finally big enough for. The big kids were a little much in there not really watching out for the smaller ones. Santa came and Logan wasn't happy to sit on his lap! We left there at 1100 and then headed to town to try and find boots and ski pants for the little man. We went to payless and they wanted us to pay more. It was $45.99 for a pair of boots. So we kept looking. We went to winners and found a pair for $21.99 that he loves. Then we managed to find an awesome pair of ski pants but it was a 2 piece with the coat. He didn't really need another winter coat but we needed the pants and they didn't have them at wal-mart or superstore. So $45.99 for that but wow does he look cute. Then we headed to the arena and arrived at 1300 not knowing that the free skate is 1200-1300. So we headed home and then called Paul and decided that we would head up to the mountain and try out the tubing. So we made it up there and went to the first aid shack where Paul was working and he helped me get Logan all bundled up in his new suit and boots and myself. We had to hike quite a bit up the mountain to get to the tubing area. Logan walked a bit and enjoyed the snow but mostly it was poor Mommy carrying him. He is sure heavy these days and my back is super sore. We got half way there and thought we were going the wrong way so we went back to Paul and we were going the right way so we started off again. I was a sweaty mess when we finally got there. We bought 2 hours for $15. Logan loved the whole thing. We did around 5-6 runs in the first hour and then took a big break to warm up Logan's hands because he wouldn't wear his mitts. Then we did another couple of runs and then started walking down the mountain. Once again Logan walked like a champ and did some running down the mountain but eventually Mommy UP. So I carried him and felt like my arms were going to fall off. We got back to the first aid shack just as Paul was done all of his stuff so we drove home in convoy and Logan fell asleep just before we got home.

Then today Logan woke us up at 0550. I miss his 0800 sleep ins. Then I got up at 0630 and showered and brought him out to the living room so Paul could sleep. Paul stayed in bed till 0900 and then got ready for us to head out to church. Then we were going to skate at 1100 but skating is from 1200-1300 so we ran to town quickly and then came home to play with Tikka and then headed to the Junior Ranks Christmas party. There was 160 kids. Was pretty crazy. We saw Laurel and the boys and Kurtis and his son. Was good. Logan got a cool Elmo kinex set from Santa. He loved it. Then we came home and I tried to take a nap but Logan wouldn't let me. Paul finished setting up the cabinet that I started this morning, then Logan pulled it over on top of himself when Paul was on the phone. Luckily he wasn't hurt. Then Paul and Logan and Tikka went for a walk and I installed it in our bathroom and connected it to the wall so that can't happen again. Looks good.

Tonight, we played with Logan quite a bit and watched 2 episodes of Californication. Paul watched 60 minutes and Logan helped Mommy vacuum. Then Mommy and Logan had a blast when he had his bath. He loved it!!

Now it is bedtime for little bears. I have a medical tomorrow morning although I am technically off. Logan will go to daycare for tomorrow and I'll try and get some stuff done around here. We leave for Ontario on the 14th if memory serves me right.

That's all for now.

Love Rae-Lynn, Paul & Logan

02 December 1454

So Sunday we headed to church. Paul was happy to be able to sit in the pews instead of the crying room. Logan was very well behaved. He was trying to sing along with the hymns. He kept leopard crawling under the pew in front of us, taking the song books and then bringing them to me. Everyone was happy to see me and welcomed me home. Then we headed to Ricki's for lunch and then a quick stop at superstore. We then went to Canadian Tire and picked up a pair of bob skates for Logan and a pair for me. We will try and go family skating on sunday but we have been unable to find boots for Logan yet so that may not happen. I managed to find a uniform for work on Monday. I had 3 half days to do at work, just in-clearance and admin before my leave. I am now off until 25 Jan!!! Then I have one off from March 20th to March 28th. Hopefully I'll be able to go to the Tim McGraw concert in Vancouver!!!

Monday night I was so bagged I fell asleep on the couch at 1800 while Paul was working outside. Logan kept waking me up periodically. Then Tuesday after my half day I slept all afteroon till I picked up Logan. I have a 12 hour time change to get over and they figure one day for every hour of time change. Last night I managed to vacuum and clean up a bit with my little helper while Paul was at hockey. He even peed in his potty for me!!! Was great. Then he went to bed without issue!

This morning was the best wakeup call ever. Logan came down from his room and it took me awhile to realize it wasn't a dream. He was talking to Tikka and giving him cuddles. Then I grabbed him and brought him in to bed. He is normally cranky in the morning so this was a nice change.

Monday morning I went to MIR for my back. I have Logan back, lol. My back isn't used to carrying him so it is pretty sore. Logan is always, Mommy Up, up, up. I'm like, sorry little man, Mommy can't! Hopefully it will feel better soon. I finished up my last half day today. Gonna be soooo good to have some time off. I do have to go in on monday the 7th for a medical but that shouldn't take too long.

Things are great and hopefully we will start trying for another baby in a couple of months.

Love Rae-Lynn, Paul & Logan
