Update 14 October 2012

Has been awhile since my last post. Lots to talk about. I am giving myself only 10 minutes to update this so i better time fast. 10 minutes at 100 words per minuts should be 1000 words. We will see how I do. So the first week in August, Paul and I took leave and headed down to Erinsville, Ontario for the week. We camped in Mom and Dad H's trailer right at the lake and had a blast. We went fishing. I caught one decent fish the whole time and tonnes of little sunfish, as did Logan. Paul caught a few and then 1 really good one on the last day that we ended up putting back. Then on Thursday night the 9th of August we headed North to Bowmanville for the boots and hearts festival. It was pouring rain when we were setting up our tent but we got it all set up and were nice and cozy inside. Then the next day we got up and I made breakfast and then we filled up our water containers. We took a shelter that we could shower in with solar water bags. Worked well. It was also a good thing that we had our bikes because we were a 10 minute bike ride or 30 minute or so to the concert area. Friday we went to see Crystal Shawanda and I can't remember at this point. But basically we had the best weekend ever. We were nice and dry in our rain suits as well. We met some awesome people, Peggy & Darren, Diane, Tim and Sandra. We loved Tim McGraw, Big n'rich, Paul Brandt, Alabama, Kira Isabella, Terri Clark. Everyone was great except for this guy from the HIP. We didn't enjoy him. We left Sunday night and didn't see Lionel Ritchie or Carrie Underwood. we really wanted to see Carrie but we were bagged and had a long ride back to Mom and Dad's and then home on the 13th. Next year it will be the long weekend of August and we will go VIP style this time. We had such a great time. Lots of whiney people complaining about the weather but we lived in the moment and had a blast. Tent worked out awesome. Mom Hacker took care of the kids for us. Was so great for Paul and I to have a weekend together without kids after he had been gone for so long. On the 13th I decided to seize the day and book flights home to see my family in Manitoba. I took my holiday around labour day weekend so as to save some leave and Finn is still free so it was only 2 seats for Logan and I. We flew on aeroplan points and flew back to ottawa business class. That was soooooooooooooooooooo amazing. Couldn't believe they gave me glass glasses while I had a toddler in my lap. He ended up smashing the glass with the metal tv tray and spilling my beer on my leg. Was great to get home. I was "sick" for the full 2 weeks while I was in Manitoba. Finn gave it to me and then my Dad got it. After being sick in July for 2 weeks and then this time I went in to the hospital and the dr. said that I might have allergies. He gave me nasinex and claritin and the next day I felt like a million bucks. Sept 10th I was at Asticou for Project Force. They are trying to make a new pt test for the military that is more reflective of the actual tasks that military members are called to perform at peace and at war. The first day I was "sick" with what I thought was a cold and couldn't breathe very well for it. We were divided up into teams. I volunteered for this testing since I was over 30 and they wanted more women over 30 to test. They weighed us and did a BMI. Basically I have alot of fat to get rid of but adequate muscle. I did 10 pushups, 1:02 on the sorensen back endurance test, stage 4 on the beep test (I couldn't breathe), combined hand grip of 85 which is over 100% for my age, then we did the flexed arm hang and I couldn't support my weight. Lasted 2 seconds, wall sit: 1:08 minutes, front plank 52 seconds, then we had to lift a 35kg sandbag a height of 1m and touch the wall with it and then shuffle to the right and do the next sandbag the same. They timed how long it would take us to do 30 and I did it in 70 seconds. Then I had a 15 minute break before I did my 20 msr beep test, which also didn't help me stopping at level 4 which was my worst ever. Still a pass though. In the afternoon we did famil for what would happen on the 17th of sept. On the 17th we showed up to asticou again and we did an exercise where we had to carry various weights various ways back and forth 23 separate times and it was timed. You could run only when you weren't carrying anything and we were in combats. I did mine in 11 minutes 55 seconds which was good. Then we had lunch and after lunch we did the YOYO test which is a version of the 20 msr where you run through the line at each end and there is a pause. I ran to level 6 and then I was told to stop because she didn't see me cross the line. Was fine with me. Then on the 23rd of September I did the Army Half marathon of 21km. It was truly an amazing and wonderful experience. I ran with my friend Leanne. We finished with a time of 2 hours 45 minutes which was great since I did zero training and had only ran 5 km probably ever in my life. Was such a great time. I was singing the whole time and having a blast. I told myself that I could do it and then I did. I wasn't even that sore the next day. I only had 1 blister. The power of positive thinking. Then on the 24th I was supposed to do more pt testing but Leanne was very very sore so we both agreed to do it on the 25th instead because we wanted to do the testing together. Then we had to move 60 sandbags from one pallet to the other one. I did mine in 4 minutes 2 seconds. Then we had to and it will take me too long to explain things but we did an escape to cover. We wear body armour, cadpats, boots, helmet, and fake rifle. 2 hands on rifle at all times. 10 m run-7 second pause-50 m run-10 m leopard crawl under a wire, -30 m run in FFO. Mine was 1 minute 6 seconds total! Was great. Supposed to do it twice but I did my best the first time every time so I didn't do it twice. We had to do picking and digging. It was laborious but not too bad. And then this farmer carry. How long could we walk carrying a sand bag in each hand. I did 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Then this running and lifting feet off of the ground ones. They were fine as well. Was good. So I am the National defence workplace charitable campaign for my unit. I have so far raised $8029 from the 71 people at my unit. I said that I would shave my head bald if we made it to $5000. Now I am aiming for $10,000 raised. My hair is super long and will go to a wig place that will make wigs for women and children with diseases where they lose their hair. I have also planned a few special events since I only have 11 or so more people to canvas. So far only 14 people have said no out of 71 to donating any money. I am very proud of their generosity. My CO has approved the wearing of shirt and tie or ladies equivalent on mondays till the 2nd of Dec at a cost of $15 each. I am doing it and I hope lots of people will do it. Mondays we have to wear our 3B's so it will be wonderful to be comfortable and I'll get to enjoy my hair down for a bit. Fridays we are allowed jeans if we paid $15 back in september. I love it. On Sept 19th we had the depart with dignity for my friend Michael retiring after 33 years in. Myself and my friend Shannon planned his party. It was a wonderful success. I swing danced with him in front of everyone. We had only practiced for 10 minutes together in the morning. I kept trying to lead. oh well. It was such a blast. Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPe6IOogKPs Michael is moving to Kitchener to take care of his mother and I already miss him so much. He was such a great influence on me. Truly a wonderful human being. He taught me so much. Possessions don't matter as much as the experiences and the time with friends and family. I taught him some couponing and price matching and bargain hunting!!!! We had a luncheon with him last friday to say goodbye as well. At the end of september Paul and I participated in the Shepherds of good hope golf tournament with my deputy commanding officer and our admin warrant as well as alot of others from the unit. I organized a food collection to help them with Thanksgiving etc. Myself and a friend each donated a turkey which was awesome and they received some canned goods as well. We ended up right on par for the course. It was a 9 hole and I had the best shots ever golfing. Was a beautiful day out and we had a blast. I sunk a 70-80 foot putt. Wish they would have recorded it. It was unbelievable. During september Paul went to Mary-Ann and Thomas's wedding and Mom and Dad H had the kids. I made it to a Shane Yellowbird concert and did a tonne of cleaning and organizing and decluttering at our place. Still more to go. We continue to live every day like it was our last and make the most out of this one beautiful life we have. The kids are amazing and wonderful. we are truly blessed to be their parents. Finn is trying sooooo hard to talk. I have been suffering from depression and mental illness off and on for most of my life. Not sure if it started when my parents separated or what. Would come and go. Lots of horrible things have happened in my life but I haven't been dwelling on it. It would just show up and make me miserable. My self esteem was incredibly low due to the bullying I suffered in high school and in college. When I was in grade 7 the other kids said that I was ugly like a "dog" and called me "tire biter". This was really stupid because they said that "dogs bite tires" and I was an ugly dog. They would chase me down the street barking like a dog. Small town. Was a rough time. It didn't help any that I didn't get along with my step-mother through all of this. 3 of my 4 brothers have attempted suicide at different points in their lives. Raymond was successful in 2002. I still miss him every day and wish he was here. It plagued my thoughts in 2001 when I was deployed on the HMCS Vancouver. I was continuously misunderstood and was getting in crap for things that weren't my fault. I was held to a way higher standard for some reason than anyone else on the ship. I used to contemplate slitting my wrists between watches so that I wouldn't have to go on. But I managed to pull through and I ceased my training as a Maritime engineer which I wasn't enjoying. 3 months after I returned from the Arabian Sea was Raymonds suicide and it was devasting. He called me to say goodbye and tell me he loved me. This was the best gift he could have given me. I got to tell him how much I loved him and plead with him not to leave. After his suicide I was worried that the other 4 of us would do it or that no one would. After the devastation that this caused the family no one would ever do it since it was so awful. This spring I was depressed. Not sure why. People thought it was because of the 10 year anniversary of Ray's death. I thought it was something hormonal. I had some tests run and at the end of May I went on zoloft. It is working awesome. I am not sure if I had moodiness and depression due to hormones or what but everything is sorted out now and I am sooooooooo happy. My knees have "healed" themselves and I am not in constant pain anymore. I am living life to the fullest and trying to help as many people as I can through charities, couponing, and donating. I just want everyone to realize that there is no shame in asking for help and things can get better. I was devastated to hear about Amanda Todd being bullied. Bullying makes me sick. We all need to be nicer to each other and show our kids how to treat other people. I have been playing badminton 3-5 times per week now and I am training hard for nationals. There is 3 women here in the ncr competing for 2 spots. I play 3 times per week at the gym at work with co-workers and once or twice with the ncr team. I love this sport soooooooo much. Paul is doing really well at work. He is playing hockey and some intramural golf. My daycare lady Silvia is amazing. She is sooooooooooooooo wonderful to us and the kids. Friday night Paul and I went to the US Navy's 237th annual Navy Day ball in Greely and had a blast. He wore a tux and I wore a ballgown and had my hair done. Was a great last hurrah for my hair before the head shaving on the 26th of October. We had a "ball" at the ball. The guy that shaved my head on the flight deck of the vancouver in 2001 was there. Was so ironic and awesome. Last time I raised $1200 for diabetes. 26th October will be a head shaving extravaganza at work and will hopefully garner some great press for the NDWCC. I am planning a movember for the guys in my unit for november and a no leg shaving for the women. Paul and I won tickets to the y101 40th birthday bash at montanas in kanata on nov 5th. Someone from that party will win a trip for 2 to nashville and then las vegas and will get to see shania twain in concert and tim and faith. I am soooooooooooo hoping and praying that it will be us. I will be bald for the party on the 5th!!! Love and God Bless to everyone. Treat everyone like you would like to be treated. Be the change you want to see in the world. Live, laugh, and Love. Couponing update: This weekend is the double double event at shoppers. Still waiting patiently for Lynne and Dino's baby to arrive. So far she is 6 days overdue. My trip to Manitoba in September was awesome. Suzanne and Morag's reception was wonderful and it was nice to see my kids play with their cousins (Rolly and Robyn's kids). Was soooooooooooo great to celebrate my Grandmas 91st birthday with all of the family. I passed on my cloth diapers to my cousin Kathy and Lynne & Dino. Things are going really well at work. My co-workers are great and I love the job and I love Ottawa. Today we went to church and then I let Paul have some me time and the kids and I went to visit Auntie Colleen and Uncle Jonathon. Colleen is a good friend of mine. Our birthdays are 1 day apart and I have known her since 1999 or 2000. The kids played well together. She is also Finn's Godmother. She gave me the sweet coupon hook up today for the lysol system and I told her about some deals. We had a great visit. Wish I could see her more. I started doing Yoga as well. So far I have done it 3 times. Brandy from work does it for free on tuesdays from 0800-0900. I love it!!! I have lost over 10 lbs since the 10th of september. curing my allergies and all of the pt kick started my metabolism and I am burning calories like crazy. I am literally "high" on life. I am the happiest that I have been in a long time. A couple of weeks ago, a great friend of mine Leonie was in town and I drove to Kanata to have some time with her. It was so great. She gives the best hugs and a huge heart. I love that chick. She sent me the best care package ever when I was in KAF. I can't wait to send some stuff to her as she is deploying soon. For Thanksgiving we stayed in Ottawa. I cleaned the house on the saturday and then Amy and Steve came up for supper with Tikka and Paul cooked us a wonderful turkey. I made the salad and the stuffing. Stuffing not from scratch. The turkey and Paul's stuffing was amazing. We had a great time. Sunday night I invited ourselves out to Dave and Nadine's for their thanksgiving. We dressed up and had a really great time! Love those 2. They were in Comox with us as well and got posted here last summer. We had a wonderful time! I am working on my french again and I am taking mandarin lessons. I highly recommend my friend Lucy from Unicorn Spa on Merivale. She is amazing. Great prices. She does waxing, massage, acupuncture. For massages she has a stamp card. After 9 massages you can get a free 60 minute massage. 10 for the price of 9. She is amazing. She gave me a massage the night before the Army half marathon and then I went to her after the run for another massage and some waxing. I love her. She is also helping me with my mandarin and I am helping her with her english. Just wanted to let people know about the walmart mastercard. You get $15 when you use it for the first time at walmart and then use it once somewhere else. You also earn rewards for using it at walmart. Since I do a tonne of price matching and couponning at walmart it is working well. There is also a wonderful deal with ING right now. If you open a savings account based on my orange key which is 14616744S1 they will pay us each $25. This is with Ing direct. They are wonderful and have no fees. I also opened up a chequing account with them. I transferred my payroll to them and they are going to send me a $100 apple giftcard just for me doing that!! Wishing you and yours a happy fall. Logan turned 5 on October 5th and Dad H turned 55. Happy birthday to both of them. the night before Logan's birthday we went to Lone star for supper. was super fun!!! Love you all: Rae-Lynn, Paul, Logan and Finn!

29 JULY 2012 UPDATE AND EPIC SHOPPING DEALS

Hello everyone. Since the long weekend at the beginning of the month Paul is home for good till November. It has been going well. We are all super happy to have him home. On the 9th of July we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. Paul was able to get me free flowers thanx to the scanning code of practice. http://smartcanucks.ca/canadian-code-of-practice-scanner-price-accuracy/ Flowers were supposed to be $5.99 and they scanned at $9.99. Since the sign said $5.99 and Paul mentioned that, he received the flowers for free since they were less than $10. If they were over $10 he would have received $10 off. Dad and Lynn flew in on the 9th for a visit as well. We were so excited for them to visit. I was away in the States for work from the 10th-12th. I went to Maryland for a 1 day conference. I had a wonderful room at the Hampton Inn with a whirlpool tub. Nadia visited me the night of the 11th and we had such a great visit. She was my matron of honour for our wedding and I hadn't seen her since the wedding. We did a little bargain hunt shopping. I managed to get 8 bras for $160 at Target and I will be reimbursed by the military for my yearly bra entitlement. Was great. Picked up some new underwear for Logan, Angry Birds, Star Wars!!! He loved them. I also picked up a skirt for me and 4 tops super cheap. I flew home on the 12th and worked the 13th. We picked up a rental van on the 13th. On the 14th (my 35th birthday) we got up and headed down to Mom and Dad Hacker's place. We were enroute to Niagara Falls. We spent the rest of the day with them at their Campsite swimming and having fun. Campfire ban so we couldn't have a fire. Logan roasted marshmallows off of the stove. On our way to their place I stopped to buy a cheesecake birthday cake. It was $21.99 and it scanned at $22.99 so I got it for $11.99 thanx to the Scanning code of practice. We had a great visit with Mom and Dad H. Then Dad, Lynn, Paul, myself and the kids stayed at their house overnight. Mom and Dad stayed at their trailer. The next day we got up and went to church, had lunch with Mom and Dad H and then headed to Niagara Falls. Weather was crazy driving there. Torrential downpour on the 401. We didn't get to the hotel till 1900. I thought the Hilton would give me my government rate on check in but they wouldn't. They said I should have called in ahead of time. We stayed in a room with 2 king beds and a pull out couch and one bathroom. It was a little crowded but we loved it. They nickel and dimed us for everything. No fridge, $15 for internet (only one device could use it), $25/day for parking, etc. We had a fallsview room though and we loved it. On the 16th we did the maid in the mist, journey behind the falls, niagara fury and white water walk. Was awesome. On the 17th we went to marineland and got in 50% off all tickets since we are military. Kids 6 and under are free. Logan and Finn were free on everything we did as well as 2 free suppers for each of them the 2 nights we ate at east side marios!!! We got up on the 18th and headed back to Mom and Dad's to pick up Paul's trailer and boat. He bought a used 12 foot aluminum boat and trailer with 2 oars off kijiji for $400. He still has his motor. He will be getting that puppy going shortly to take the kids fishing etc. I got a really bad cold on the 16/17th in Niagara. I am actually still sick today 2 weeks later. I stayed home sick from work on the 19th and 20th. This is an awful cold. On the weekend Paul and Dad started to build the foundation for the 10x14 foot shed Paul bought from TSE for $599 or so. They worked their butts off and the 3 of us finished it monday night. Dad and Lynn flew home on the 26th and we were very sad to see them go. We had a wonderful visit. Lynn really bonded with the kids. She read to Logan every night. We had such a great time. They bussed downtown a couple of times and toured the parliament etc. Paul and Dad only made it out golfing twilight once though. We ran out of time. This weekend Paul went home to Mom and Dad H's with the kids and I got a bit of break on my own. Friday night I went out and did some shopping. Saturday night they went to a Sandford reunion. I am sure they had a blast. I first stopped at metro. They were supposed to have gay lea gold on for $1.97 and I have a $1 coupon but they didn't have any and didn't appear to have ordered any for the sale. I bought 2 honey bunches of oats for $1.99 each and had 2 $1 off coupons. 3 pints raspberries for $5. 1.17 L OAsis juice for $1.99 minus my 75 cents off coupon!!! healthy request orange juice. Then I went to Walmart. I price matched value packs of chicken breasts. Walmart was charging 13.13/kg and I pricematched that at $8.75/kg from food land. I saved an average of $6 per pack. Was great. 10 lb bag of potatoes for $2.97 unadvertised awesome price, Gala apples price matched no frills at 1.94/kg for a $2.98 (10 or so), 2 pints blueberries at $1.44 each price matched no frills, 3 nutrigrain bars boxes for $1.88 each price matched no frills. Had 3 coupons for $1 off each box, Maxx scoop litter 7kg price matched no frills for $5.88 and had a $5 off coupon. onl paid 88 cents!!! M&M peanuts at $1.08, free with coupon from online contest, bananas reg walmart price, grapes pricematched food basics at 97 cents/pound 1.445 kg for $3.09. 8 philly cream cheese 250g for $2.49 each price matched food basics. Total $90.37. This is for 4 6 packs of boneless, skinless chicken breasts and everything else here. I was looking for stayfree ultrathin 18's at walmart which are on for $1.97 this week. There is a $2 printable here https://consumersocialmediacanada.ca/stayfreequiz/www/coupon.php making them free!!! Of course they were sold out at the 2 walmarts that I went to. I should have just got a raincheck since the coupons are good till january but I forgot. I came home and unloaded everything and then went to bed. I didn't get to bed till probably midnight or so. I got home at 2230. I slept till 1130 in the morning. Then I got up and had lunch for breakfast and headed out on a mission to find the stayfree pads and go to the awesome shoppers promo. I went to the shoppers at Findlay Creek since I wanted to check Freshco for the pads and price match. I can't find my shoppers receipt but basically I believe I bought 3 osteojointease on for $19.99 (2 came with 3 magnetic ion bracelets), had $5 coupons off all 3, 3 multibionata at 10.49 each - 3 $10 off coupons. Each of thses came with 500 bonus points as well. Advil nighttime 10 pack at $3.99 - $4 off mailed to me with a sample from advil. Thinsations at $1.99 - $1.50 facebook printable. I scratched off a $10 amount on the scratch card. You could scratch $10,15, 20, 30 or $50. You couldn't apply the discount on this transaction. Then I went to freshco and they didn't have the pads or anything else I needed so I headed to giant tiger on bank. The nestea ice tea packs have a coupon printed on the inside for a free 12 pack. Last weekend I bought a case at walmart for $4.97 and now every pack I get is free with the coupon as long as I redeem the coupon for a box that also has the coupon. Coupon is good till december. At giant tiger I redeemed my coupon for a case of iced tea, and picked up a kids tent on clearance for $8 and a mini flashlight for Logan and Finn at $1 each. After that I went to the walmart on bank st. They didn't have any of the iced tea in stock or the pads still so I bought a family size frosted flakes at $4.97 that comes with a form you mail in and they will send you a $5 pre paid gas card. Sweet deal!!! We are stocked up on cereal right now so I didn't get more. Good price though! I did get a rain check on the stayfree pads for 5 packs. After that I popped over to the home based business open house in the PMQ's. My friend Kelly had her epicure table set up. I picked up an order that Mom H and I made and bought a new taco spice and a hot pepper spice mix as well. We had a great visit. It was so hot and this was outside. Then at the end I helped her pack up and load her truck up. After that I came home and unloaded. I talked to Julia and decided to go to her place for a visit. I stopped at walmart in barrhaven and they didn't have any of the pads or the nestea iced tea. Then I stopped at the shoppers drugmart and they didn't have any of the multibionata or the nestea so I kept going. I stopped at the shoppers at 680 Eagleson road. Here I picked up the $19.99 osteojointease. Minus $5 coupon. Regular price is $27.99. 4 multibionata at $10.49 minus 4 $10 off printable coupons, and used my $10 card from earlier that day. Subtotal was $6.95 HST $8.05 for a total of $15.00. Receipt says I saved $30. I earned 2610 bonus points. My bill was $61 before coupons. I wanted to get a nestea case for julia but they didn't have them. Was gonna give her 12 cans. They were out of the scratch cards so they just gave me the $10 coupon discount card for my next purchase. Then I stopped at zellers to see if they had the stayfree pads and I would just price match walmart. I was in luck. They had them. And the sweet part is there is a free pack of carefree liners that comes in the box with the 18 stayfree pads. These were $4.49 at zellers and they price matched the $1.97 from walmart. I bought 5 boxes. Subtotal was $9.85, total $10.34. After the 5 $2 off coupons were applied my bill was 34 cents for 90 ultrathin pads with wings!! I got to Julia's around 1930 and we had a great visit till 2315 or so. I stopped by the shoppers in Stittsville. I hit the jackpot here. They had the nestea iced tea for $7.49 which I got for free with my coupon, febreze home collection luminaire refill for $3 - $3 coupon, 6 multibionata at $10.49 each - 6 $10 off coupons, nair wax strips on clearance for $5 a box. I bought 2 boxes. Total before coupons was $75 or so. After coupons subtotal was $2.94, HST 8.90 total paid $11.84. I earned 3750 bonus points and a $15 scratch for my next trip to shoppers!!! I got home at around 0035 or so. It was close to 2 AM by the time I got to sleep. I woke up at 0800 and got up and showered and headed to my massage appointment. Was great. 1 hour therapeutic deep tissue massage. On my way home I decided to stop at rexall to see if there was any deals. I picked up 8 rolls of ultra royale 3 ply for $2.99 minus $1 coupon, another free case of nestea and 2 pringles for $3. Quick stop in staples for more ink for my printer and then an epic stop at zellers. Zellers has a facebook coupon for $5 off when you spend $20 on yellow ticket items which are 70% off the last ticketed price. I price matched 1 stayfree ultra for $1.97 and used a $2 off printable. I bought Logan 5 new sets of size 6 and 6X pajamas from cars to handy manny. They were $5.10 each for 2 3 piece sets and then $4.50 each for the other 2 piece sets. I also picked up 2 3.69L arm and hammer laundry detergent on for $4.99 and used a $1 off coupon on each one!! Total paid $29.23. I then went back to zellers because I forgot my resolve coupons in the truck and I had seen a sign that said resolve was on for 2 for $4. I picked up 2 resolve spray and wash and had 2 coupons for $2 off each one making them free. On checkout they rang up at $3.29. After 5 minutes it was determined that the sign was old but they still honored the $2 price and I got them for free. I also picked up fleece sweats for Finn $3.60, Boys bucket hat $2.40, 2 pairs of jeans for Logan and one for Finn at $4.50 each, Nose and ear plug for $1.20, Hat $1.50, Hat $2.40, Hat 90 cents, 1 pair of matching pj's for Finn for $5.10 3 pack. Total paid $35.27. This was sooooo awesome. I stopped at Canadian Tire on the way home and picked up milk at $4.29, and another iced tea at $3.66 - free coupon, and an 8 foot water trampoline for $199.99. Regular price is $399.00. Can't wait for the kids to use this at Mom and Dad's campsite. We will be staying at Mom and Dad's campsite in their trailer probably from the 6-10 August. So Capital hoedown is cancelled this year. It sucks but the Boots and Hearts Festival is exchanging hoedown passes for free passes to their festival which is the same dates. If all works out I will be heading there from the 10-12 Aug. will have to take the 13th off. I have to see if Paul wants to go. If he doesn't there will be room for one person to go with me. More details to come. Also subject to Mom and Dad H taking the kids for that weekend so we will see what happens. I am thawing out some chicken right now and I am going to make the broccoli cheese bake from the recipe from Kelly. Not sure when my boys will be getting home. Our house in Courtenay now belongs to someone else officially as of yesterday!!!! Now I have to finish my moving claim and get reimbursed for some stuff. That is all for now. 3 July 2012 update

As always I am surprised that it has been 2 months since my last post. I have been pretty busy with the kids I guess. Paul finished up his POET Performance Oriented Electrician Training on the 28th of June and was home on the 29th. We are sooooo happy to have him home. He will be home till November when he goes on his next course. We will have to enjoy him while we have him here. On Friday the 15th of June Mom and Dad Hacker came up and watched the kids while Paul and I went to the Thompson square, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum concert at scotia bank place. We had a blast. Paul passed a really hard test that day so we were celebrating in style. May had us going to Kingston for a jack and jill while Mom and Dad H watched the kids. Was a nice night away from the kids and visited with Paul's friends and some of mine. For Canada Day weekend we packed up the kids Saturday morning and headed down home to Mom and Dad's to camp for the weekend. It was a beautiful spot on Beaver Lake. Paul and I tented it and the kids stayed in Mom and Dad's trailer. We swam tonnes and Dad and Paul took Logan fishing Sunday night. He caught 12 sun fish and they put them all back. They were out in the boat. Tikka also had a blast. We had a super wonderful long weekend with Mom and Dad H. Mom H spoiled us with wonderful meals. I got a bit too much sun but didn't burn. I was red but not painful. I cut my feet up quite a bit in the lake. I just picked up a pair of water shoes for me. I also bought a party island from the canadian flyer for $109. It is on sale 50% off and is super cool. Can't wait to use it next time. We got home Monday at around 1500 in time for Logan to have a play date with his BFF Ben and his brother Jacob. Logan was over at their house till 1900. Next time we will have the boys over. They are sooooo cute always holding hands and playing so well. They had their first phone call last Friday night and it was adorable. So tonight Paul went out to play baseball with friends and took Logan with him. I took Finn with me out to do my weekly shop since we were away for the weekend. Here are some deals I picked up at Loblaws: Gay lea spray whipped cream $3.19 minus $.75 coupon zone coupon. 500 g extra lean shaved turkey breast $13.11 for sandwiches 4 Chickens at $3.08, $3.44, 2.96 and $3.00 each. Great deals!! Broccoli: 4 big ones for $5 Skirt on clearance $6.94 2nd skirt on clearance $14.94. Total $57.75 after taxes. We then went to Walmart where I only used 2 coupons but did a tonne of price matching: Romaine Walmart price $.67 2 packs dempsters 6 bagels at $2 each 1.18 kg red grapes $4.60 Fruit loops fruit snacks 5 boxes at $2 each for 10 packs per box. Pink ear plugs 7 pairs $4.77 Black diamond cheese strings. 2 packs of 8. Price matched no frills and got them for $2 each. Had 2 x .75 off coupons from nutella company mailed me. So 8 cheese strings for $1.25. Super sweet!!! Maple leaf top dogs price matched giant tiger at $1.88 each instead of $3. Bought 4 packs Montreal steak seasoning $3 pepper seasoning $3 Raspberries price matched independent at $1.25 each. Bought 2 packs Blue berries price matched food basics at 3 for $5. Strawberries price matched food basics at $1.97 I also picked up 2 boxes of nature valley sweet and salty on for $2.50 for 5. I bought these because if you buy 2 boxes you go online to life made delicious and you get a free pair of Canada flip flops. I can't wait to get mine. I also love these bars for snacks at work and so does Paul. Finn was asleep in the cart for the whole shop at loblaws and was awake for walmart. He slept all of the way home and went right to bed at 2200 when we got home. We are looking forward to Dad and Lynn visiting us from the 9-24th July. I will probably take 3 days off and Paul will too and we will make a trip up to niagara falls!!! I also have a work trip to the states from 10-12 July. Finn is a climbing monkey and is constantly falling off things or running in to things and bruising up his head. I successfully weened him at the end of May from breast milk and I am happy to have my boobs back. I have been playing badminton twice a week at work with some people there. There is a great group and we have some exciting and fun matches. It is a good workout for me. I also try and run/walk on the other days. Tomorrow I will be doing a run in the morning and then going to work for 0900 and then I will have badminton at 1520 or so. Tomorrow I can stay till 1730 since Paul is off and he can pick up and drop off the kids at daycare. I think they will all sleep in tomorrow since it is 2300 and he is still out with Logan at the double header. It is looking like Capital hoedown will be cancelled this year. It really sucks since we had tickets for each other for Christmas. Hopefully we will get our moneyback. Working on planning our holiday from 4-12 August and thinking of heading to Newfoundland. We will see how that pans out. Oh the other big news from May was that we finally sold our house. It closes at the end of July. We sold for way less than we wanted but we will be glad when we stop carrying 2 mortgages. That is all for now. Love Always Rae-Lynn, Paul, Logan and Finn

April 30, 2012

Hi everyone. 2 months since my last post. Wow. Can you tell I am barely surviving on my own being back at work and single parenting the kids during the week. It is rough. Can't wait till Paul is home again full time. I just got back from a week in Florida with the kids and Mom and Dad Hacker. Unfortunately Paul couldn't come with us. Logan drove down in the truck with Mom and Dad on the 20th. Finn and I flew out the night of the 22nd. Was a good flight down with an empty seat between us and the next person. Seat belt sign was on for 2 hours though so I had to hold Finn. He is heavy so wasn't too much fun. Dad picked us up and took us to the Marriott Harbour Lakes Resort. It was soooo beautiful. Mom and Dad had a king bed and Logan and I each had a queen and a play pen for Finn to sleep in. The resort had mini golf (not free) and 2 huge awesome kids swimming areas. One area had a hot tub and a water slide, and pool and a splash pad and a kiddie pool. The other area had a big pirate ship to climb on with lots of slides and a pool and another hot tub and another kiddie pool. We spent most of the time at the 2nd and one day at the one with the water slides. Monday we just relaxed by the pool. Tuesday we took the kids to disney world to the magic kingdom. Was a super full day of fun. Finn took a nice nap in his stroller. I was soooo glad I took the double stroller with me. Wednesday and thursday we hung out by the pool with the kids. Friday I went to Disney world by myself. Dad dropped me off and I went to epcot, then hollywood and then bussed to magic kingdom to catch a $2 bus closer to the resort. 15 minute walk back to the resort from the bus stop. Was great. Taxi would have been $35. only like 7 miles away. Would have been such a rip off. Saturday we spent by the pool again. Finn was a bit of a monster at night. He had me up multiple times each night. Finn has been constantly sick for what seems like forever. I got sick the thursday before my vacation and was sick the whole week and still a little sick. \ Logan is as brown as can be. Finn got a little tan but is still pretty white. I got a few burns and am a little browner now. For the month of april I was part of a pedometer challenge. My goal was at least 10000 steps per day and today is the last day but I have done it. I had a couple of 20,000 days while we were in florida. The resort was wonderful for kids. Logan did lots of competitions. I couldn't believe I was able to buy 12 smirnoff ice for $13.79 there. sooooo cheap. Wish it was that cheap here. Finn and I flew out Saturday night at 2030 and landed at midnight in Ottawa. Daddy picked us up. We had less than 19 hours together. It went tooo quick. Finn was super jealous whenever I was near Paul and jumped all over me. Last night he finally slept good for me from 2120 till 0800. Back to work tomorrow :( big sigh.. Oh yeah: picked up some great deals. Tide 6 use trial size bottle on for $1 at independent and loblaws and same for 12 use liquid downy. I had a bunch of 50 cents off any tide and $1 off any tide and 50 cents off downy etc. I picked up 6 tide and 4 downy. They were selling bubble blowing guns at disney for $26 each with extra bubbles. I found them for $5 today in Walmart!!! Picked up neilson trutaste milk 1% at $1 each and used my $1 printable making them free. Picked up lactancia homo milk for $4.99 - $1 off coupon from food basics. olive oil for $2.97 or so from food basics for 1 L. Also bought neilson chocolate milk at $1 for 1 L. Picked up 2 white swan paper towel for $1 each and had 50 cents off on each one!! Love Rae-Lynn, Paul, Logan and Finn

March 4th deals and shopping

Hello everyone. Had my last week off this week. Did some house organizing stuff. Worked out every day this week. I take Sundays off though. Workouts are going well. i finished the series life unexpected on netflix. loved it. Now I am watching Drop Dead Diva on netflix during my workouts and I also really really like it.

Thursday I popped out to lululemon to pick up my some bras. The military pays us $180 per year and the policy used to be for 4 bras. I have since learned that you now get $180 total and you can buy as many bras as you want. I picked up 4 great running ones, 2 at $42 and 2 at $48. Total came to $200.48 or so so I only have to pay $20 out of pocket or $5 per bra. So sweet. I also treated myself to my first ever lulu lemon hoodie and I love it. It feels like a wonderful hug when you wear it.l It has the thumb hole too so it keeps me super cozy and warm.

I also popped out to see Kelly on Thursday and had a visit. Her kitchen is looking amazing after the renos!!!

Friday I was planning on cleaning the house all day but I didn't get any flyers this week so Stephanie lent me hers. I also had to try on her DEU pants. I found out that women are allowed to wear men's pants so I was sizing with her pants. I can't wait to order mine from logistik. They fit soooo much nicer than the ridiculous women's pants.

So I headed to metro with her flyers. I picked up 10 harvest splendours potatoes on for $2.99 minus $1 off coupon for each. I have already tried them and they are wonderful. The flyer for metro showed the scrubbing bubbles extended shower cleaner on for $4.97 or $4.99 this week. I figured it had to be a typo because these are normally $8.97 at walmart and the cheapest I have seen them is $5.97. So I picked up one and it scanned at $9.67 which is the regular price at metro. Then I showed them the flyer and they gave it to me for free but they have probably issued a correction that that isn't the price this week. sweet deal for me. I also picked up 3 packs of strawberries for $5.

Then I went to walmart. On the 29th I bought advil muscle aches 72 count for $12.96 and used a $4 off coupon and advil nighttime 40 count for $12.96 with $4 off. This week they are on sale for $10 each so I took in my receipt and they put $6 something back on my visa!!! Was awesome.

I picked up 6 gold fish at $2 each. The new one that is a mix of pretzels and regular and used 6 50 cents off each one coupons, picked up 2 avocado at .88 each. Picked up 2 astro omega3 biobest at $3.97 each (12 packs) and used $1 off on each from the tearpads, and then I price matched the scrubbing bubbles from the metro flyer and got 3 for $4.97 each and used a $5 off coupon on each one making them free, I picked up 3 febreze air effects for $2.79 each price matching food basics and used a save $4 when you buy 3 febreze products coupons. and then 2 babybel price matched at $3.49 minus the $1 coupons attached to each one. and also grabbed 2 dempsters wraps one whole wheat and one white which were supposed to be $2.50 each. subtotal before coupons was $60.83. After coupons before tax was $34.83 total $37.86. Then I noticed that I was charged $3.17 for each pack of wraps so I went to customer service and because of the SCOP (scanning code of practice) I got both for free since they had different upc symbols. Was awesome!!! $6.34 put back on my visa.

Then I stopped at sobeys and picked up 3 chocolate milk 1L's on for .99 each, pepperoni stick 250 g for $2.49, free trop 50 orange juice from superbowl promo, free liberte greek yogurt from facebook promo, and then 2 lean ground beefs on for $2.49/pound. Great savings!!!

Saturday morning at 0200 Finn woke up with a fever. It was a flash cold. Sucked. Hardly got any sleep. Then Paul and I took the kids to see the Lorax. It was awesome!!! Finn ate some chocolate aero balls and ended up puking all over himself and Paul during the movie.

Then we came home and did some tidying and prepping for supper. Stephanie, Brendan, Connor and Kieran came over for supper. Paul cooked up a prime rib roast and another roast, we did some of the harvest splendour potatoes, some broccoli, carrots, a caesar salad and I made the epicure citrus berry cheesecake for dessert. It was soooooooooooooooooo yummy and we had a great visit. We rented Our idiot brother yesterday from the walmart kiosk for $2 for 24 hours. Paul and I watched it last night and it was pretty funny. He polished my oxfords for me. He is the best! We pulled out some DDR and kids dance. I think the kids will be able to do it really well soon.

Then Finn woke up at 2300 or so and hung out with us for a bit and then ended up puking up his carrots from supper. Changed him and got him to bed. He slept till 0600 or so from 0020. I woke up with Logan curled up beside me with a fever. He is now sick too.

Paul is also sick so we didn't make it to church today.

I made a quick trip out to return the movie to walmart south keys and then a quick stop at shoppers drug mart to check out the deals for the spend $75 get 18500 points promotion which is on till march 6th I believe. I got some awesome deals. Dove shampoo and conditioner 750 ml is on for $5.99 which is a great deal since the cheapest I have seen the 355 ml for is $2.99. I picked up 5 shampoos, and then guarnier fructis shampoo on for $2.99 minus $1 off coupon and 500 bonus points, free trop 50 juice from superbowl promo, 2 packs of biore strips on for 2 for $18 minus 2 $1 off coupons, tylenol body pain night on for $9.99 minus $5 coupon, physicians formula 3 pack of eyeliner on for $11.89, tylenol migraine on for $9.99 minus $4 coupon. Total before taxes and coupons was $82. After coupons was $70.81, after HST $81.08. Earned 820 points + 500 bonus, +18500 bonus points for a total of 19820 points. I also used up the rest of the giftcard I bought last week and then purchased a $50 giftcard as my first transaction earning 500 bonus points as well and then used it to pay for this purchase. i still have $5.54 left on the card. I also heard there is a bonus redemption next weekend. I currently have 134224 points so I can easily redeem 95000 points for $200 if it is a bonus redemption next weekend.

Finn is a walking/running machine. he is soooo good at it now. Logan is doing super well at school. I met with his teachers last week since he hasn't been there long enough for a report card. Both kids love their daycare and are upset when they have to come home with me.

Back to work tomorrow. Will be rough since I have been off for 14 months but I am sure it will be fine. I just have to put some time in today meal planning for the week and prepping the night before and things should go well.

Excited about the 24th of march for international women's day. my girlfriend Colleen and I are heading to Montreal on a daytrip organized by the mfrc. We paid $115 and we get roundtrip transportation on a luxury coach, a 1 hour massage at strom spa including the baths, pools, hottubs etc and supper. Can't wait.

I work this week and then Paul and I are off with the kids from the 10th-18th. I am off the 19th as well. Then I am also off the 26th and the 30th march till the 2nd of April.

Mom and Dad Hacker are taking Logan to disneyworld in Florida from the 22-29 April. If I can find cheap enough flights for Finn and I, we will also go.

Still praying for our house in Comox to sell soon.

I am off to prep my 3's for tomorrow.

Love always, Rae-Lynn, Paul, Logan and Finn.

Feb 25 20X the point event at shoppers

So had a good week. Thursday I saw "This means War" at the theater with Stephanie for the stars and strollers. Kids were at daycare. It was awesome.

Yesterday we had a huge snow storm. Paul made it home later than normal but made it home.

Today we came down to Mom and Dad's. They were supposed to come to the hospital but Great Grandpa is in the hospital now so we came up instead. It appears to be pneumonia. We visited him today in the hospital with the kids.

Then I stopped in to Shoppers drugmart in Belleville on the way to Mom and Dad's since it is a 20X the point event when you spend $50.

Here is what I bought:

2 Neilson choc milk 1 L at $1.29 each
3 Duracell mini chargers regular $19.99 on for $9.99 and used my $5 off on each one from P&G
9 Charmin travel toilet paper at $1.19 each
7 Charmin 5 packs of seat covers at $1 each
Used the following coupons on the Charmin: 4 Save $1 on 1 Charmin. Then I usd 2 Save $4 when you buy any 3 of the following brands: charmin, puffs, etc, and 3 Save $3 when you buy any 2 of the following brands: charmin, puffs, bounty etc. So basically the charmin stuff was free and I actually got a bit of an overage. I used $21 in coupons for them and it only cost me like $17.70 for the products. Sweet!

Then the duracell mini chargers came with 2 AA rechargeables and the charger and only cost me $4.99 each.

Total before taxes and before coupons was $50.19.

Total after coupons before taxes was $14.19. $6.19 in tax. Total OOP was $20.38

500 regular points earned and 9500 bonus points earned for a total of 10000 points.

Before I rang that stuff through I bought a shoppers drugmart gift card to get the points but I screwed up. I bought a gift card for $57 thinking that my total was $57 after taxes but not taking in to account my coupons. So now I have $57 minus the $20.38 left on my card. Oh well. I got 570 points for buying that shoppers gift card and then used it to pay.

The best part of my transaction was that one mini charger sells for $19.99 regularly at shoppers and my total after taxes was cheaper than buying one of those at regular price!!!

The bill says I saved $33.70 on my sale items!!

Paul got a 95% on his exam on friday which was awesome but then failed his practical practice test. I am sure he will do awesome on the real thing on Monday.

HOpefully Great Grandpa will come home from the hospital soon.

Only one more week left before I have to go back to work :(

I started the couch to 5K again to try and get back in to better shape. So far I have done 4 workouts in 4 days. Doing well.

I started watching Life Unexpected on Netflix and love it. Already on Season 2. Makes the workouts go by superfast. When I go back to work I will get to work out every day from 0800-0900 so that will be nice. I only go back for a week and then I am off for Spring Break and the following monday and then the rest of the mondays in march and the last friday in march and first monday in April. Wish I was going to see the junos which are in ottawa this year.

Love Rae-Lynn, Paul, Logan and Finn

Feb 21 2012 post #2

Feast or famine on my blog. Some days no posts and today there is 2.

So I took Logan to pick up the parcels on the way to daycare and I didn't have the notices left by the postman. I misplaced them from friday night till today. She wouldn't give me my parcels. Said I had to find them or wait for a 2nd notice. I was not impressed. I actually started crying in the car. Must be stress. Logan goes "why are you sad mommy?" I said because she wouldn't give me my parcels. Took him to daycare and Finn was having a blast. Didn't want anything to do with me.

After that I dropped the comforter off at the drycleaners. Worked out to $35 or something for the duvet to be cleaned. Oh well. I got to use my 20% off coupon though.

Then I came home and made a couple of chicken wraps with cheese wraps for lunch and then organized some coupons to get ready for my trip.

I headed to rexall on merivale first. They have multibionta vitamins (30 packs) on for 2 for $20 right now and I have $10 off printable coupons which would make them free. First I did a quick walk around the store to see if they had any tearpads. I found some awesome save $3 when you buy 2 aveeno products! Then I found the vitamins. Unfortunately they only had the ones for 50 years old and older but I got 6 of them anyway, and then I picked up a 6 pack of pepsi that I had a free coupon for and a 2L pepsi that I had a free coupon for, and a smartfood popcorn that I had a free coupon for. On my bill it shows $4.99 for the pepsi, and then a $4.99 coupon, $2.49 for the 2L and then $2.49 coupon and then $10 for each vitamin and $10 coupon, and then $3.69 for smartfood popcorn and then it subtracts $3.69. My subtotal is 0.00 and then it charged me hst on everything for $9.25. I then used a printable save $2 when you spend $20 at rexall coupon making it $7.25. If I had more time I would have bought all of the vitamins separately and used a $2 rexall printable on each one. I ended up paying $7.25 and it says on the bottom of the receipt that I saved $104.11.

Then I popped over to metro. I didn't find any tearpads here. I redeemed 2 free product coupons for 12 grain bagels at $3.79 each and then I picked up 1 pack of hamburger buns and one of hot dog buns 2 for $5 and then redeemed another free 2L pepsi coupon for $1.75 and another 6 pack of pepsi at $5.99. Now looking at my receipt she only took $4.99 off. crappy. Anyway, the bill came to $7.01 and I earned 1 airmile. I think since they are charging me tax on the full price before the free coupon that it will be better to buy my stuff at walmart price matching it for the lowest price possible in the future. I

Next stop was walmart. I had an awesome cashier. I picked up another childrens tylenol at $5 - $3 printable, thinsations at $2 -.75, my free natrel baboo toddler drink $3.26-$3.26, 5 philly cream cheese price matched food basics at $1.88, 2 large eggs price matching cdn tire at $2.29 each minus my save $1 when you buy 2 eggs coupon, price matched dempsters bagels at cdn tire for $2.29 -$1 coupon, I picked up 2 packs of english muffins at $1.74 each because they had $5.50 in coupons in them. 4L of milk $4.29 price matching cdn tire, dempsters white bread at $2.48 price matched to $1.99 at shoppers. It also came with $.50 off my next pack of bagels, price matched ziploc storage bags for $2.27 at superstore and used $1 off each one, 2 packs of chicken weiners at .97 each, then the best thing ever was valentines day chocolate at 75% off. I scored 6 400g toffifee's and 7 ferrero rocher for $1.50 each. awesome!! subtotal $51.26, total $55.30 total $ value of coupons used was: $11.01. Regular price of the chocolates was a minimum of $6.47 each so they should have been $84 on their own!!!!

ok so the coupons from the english muffins are: .75 off black diamond cheese, .75 off lactantia butter, .75 off cheese makers 250g cheese, .75 off almond fresh 1.89L, .50 off oasis 960 ml juice, .75 off allens 2L apple juicle or 1.89L juice, .75 off twinings tea and .50 off naturegg omega 3 eggs.

the coupons from the ziploc is: save $1 off any 2 ziploc products, save.75 off any fresh produce, save .75 off any Block cheese product, and save $1.50 off any fresh chicken products.

Then I popped over to food basics since walmart wouldn't let me price match the basmati rice. I picked up 2 basmati 10LB bags at $5.99 each. They also had dove go fresh on for $2.99 and I bought 5 and used 5 $2.00 off on each one making them $1 each, I picked up a 9 pack of chicken breasts stuffed with broccoi and cheese for $10, lactantia homo milk $6.29 - $1 coupon = $5.29 and it came with another $6 in coupons for stuff like more milk, astro yogurt, black diamond cheese strings and black diamond cheese. I mentioned this in a previous post, and I picked up skinny cow ice cream bars for $4.99 minus $1 off printable from facebook, a free bag of doritos from the superbowl event and 4 packs of bacon on for $2.44 or so. I can't find my receipt right now but I think that was everything.

Then I popped in to bulk barn to pick up Logan's free cheecha puffs from the cheecha gram I sent him on valentine's day. I had to pay $.32 in tax. Can't wait to try them.

Then I was rushing to the daycare to get the kids. Kelly called at 1630 while I was enroute to the daycare to invite the boys and I out to denny's at south keyes to celebrate fat tuesday, aka shrove tuesday, aka mardi gras aka pancake tuesday. I picked up the boys. Logan started crying because he didn't want to leave. Finn wanted nothing to do with me. We quickly ran home to drop off some groceries and headed to denny's. We had a great meal. Was delighted that kids eat free on tuedays!!! I had the new prime rib skillet. It was yummy. Finn did a great job on his pancakes, eggs and bacon and sausage and then puked up a tonne of stuff at the end of his meal all over himself, his coat, the floor etc. Was very gross.

After I cleaned him up we ran into walmart since we were there and I wanted to get the peas for Logan at the $1 price. I picked up 3 bags which are $2.97 at walmart and price matched them for $1 each at no frills. I also picked up a 400g tub of philly dill pickle for $3 pm no frill, then I bought 6 double boxes of puffs for $8.97, 12 rolls of bounty for $8.98 and 1 charmin seat cover for $1. I was able to use a $6 off when you buy one bounty, one charmin, and one puffs product coupon!!!The puffs came with the following coupons worth $20:
save $6 when you buy one charmin, puffs and bounty, save $3 when you buy any 2 products from the following brands: bounty, charmin, puffs, save 50 cents on any bounty napkins, save $1 when you buy any one bounty 12 roll count or larger, save 50 cents on any charmin freshmates, save $1 on any charmin product, save 50 cents on any tide product, Save $1 on any puffs product, save 75 cents on any duracell coppertop, save 50 cents on any downy or bounce, save $1 on any pampers diapers, save $1 on any febreze fabric refresher 800ml, save $1 on any clairol natural instincts, save $2.50 on any head and shoulders shampoo and conditioner.

Came home, bathed the kids and put them to bed. Then I had to cook up the hamburger meat that was defrosting all day. Made pasta sauce for thursday as we will try to go without meat tomorrow for ash wednesday. Fish it will be!!! I don't consider fish meat.

Through in a load of clothes since Finn puked on everything and now I am off to bed.

Boys have a dr. appt so they won't go to daycare till after that which is at 11am. Then I will clean the house all afternoon and get organized.

Love Rae-Lynn, Paul, Logan and Finn.

Hi everyone!

Things are going alright here. Last week I decided to go with the daycare that I had found that would take both kids. I called all of the references (5) and they were all glowing and wonderful. I am glad that I didn't let the bird scare me away. The bird will be moving to the garage in April. Silvia is wonderful. Logan and Finn both love the daycare. They cry when they have to leave to come home with me. Makes me feel good. Not really but I am happy that they are happy there. She is took Finn last wednesday morning, then all day thursday and friday and took Logan after school on thursday and friday. She is also taking them this week too and isn't charging me because she wants to make sure we are all comfortable. This Friday Logan will get on his bus from her place and be dropped off there and then all next week is practicing for when I go back to work on the 5th. I can't say enough good stuff about her. She is wonderful and the kids love her. She is very accomodating.

Last Thursday Stephanie and I went to see The Vow for stars and strollers. Was nice for me to be kidless for the movie. I loved it. Friday afternoon Stephanie and I went to walmart and loblaws to do some shopping and couponing.

I picked up 2 140 packs of cruisers for Finn size 4 for $28.75 and was able to use a $5 off coupon on each pack at loblaws. I bought them at loblaws because there was a no tax event!

Then we went to walmart and I picked up the following:

3 philly cream cheese. price matched food basics $1.88 each saved $1.10-$1.60 each
Romaine $2.47 (3 pack regular price walmart)
top dogs hotdogs on sale for $1.88 each at walmart 2 packs
9 pack of pork loin chops reduced to $4.90 from $7
free twistos (coupon from superbowl) $2.67 savings
pringles on for $1 bought 3
bananas $1.48
tylenol infants on for $5 minus my $3 off coupon. bought 3. Regular price is $6.96 or &7.96.
apples price matched independent 1.96/kg
aussie shampoo and condition was $2.96 at walmart, price matched zellers for $2.49 and then used .75 off each bottle. bought 7. Saved $1.25 per bottle.
thinsations $2. - .75 off coupon.
clorox wipes price matched metro $1.99 minus $1 off coupons. bought 2.
white bread wonder plus $1.88 price matching giant tiger and then used .75 off coupons. bought 2.
bagels I think they were $3.50 or something but price matched canadian tire at $2.29 and then used a $1 off coupon. dempsters bagels
broccoli .97 can';t remember if this was a price match
axe shower gel price matched no frills at $3.00 each and then used a $2 off coupon making them $1 each. bought 2.
Strawberries price matched no frills 2lbs for $3. They only had 1lb at walmart so bought 2 of those and he put them in as $1.50 each.
rice crispies squares on for $2.00 each bought 2 and then used a buy 2 save $1 coupon from superstore.
froot loops $2.97 x 2 and 1 frosted flakes at $2.97. used a buy 3 kellogs get $3 off coupon from superstore.
frenchs mustard was supposed to be $1 but I see on my bill I was charged $1.79 minus my 75 cents off coupon.
I also see on my bill one of my coupons for a $1 got entered as $2.00 so basically that corrected the overcharge on the mustard but had I noticed it scan incorrectly I would have got it for free but things were crazy at checkout with all of my price matching etc.
I also bought snap pees for Logan which were $2.97. Later I found out that they are $1 at no frills so I could have price matched them. doh.

total number of coupons used was 22. total coupon savings of $30.17 and then my price matching on top of that.

Total out of pocket was $76.21

With my shopping out of the way I didn't need to run out this weekend. I heated up some of the oven chicken breasts for supper and did potatoes in the oven and a caesar salad. I also made a cheese cake but it wasn't ready in time so we had it on saturday. I love my new epicure cheese cake pan.

Saturday we headed to the war museum at 1430 after Finn's nap. We spent 2 hours there and had a really good time. Logan loved it. It is free for the military but we thought we would have to pay for Logan but apparently each military person can bring 1 or 2 not sure guests each that also get in free. Only cost us $4 for parking.

Then we popped over to Michael and Kelly's for supper. We had lassagna soup which was awesome and a great visit. We ended up forgetting the diaper bag.

Sunday we got up and went to church at 11 and then took the boys to Funhaven. Logan absolutely loved it. We went for 2 hours. Only cost us $9.99 for Logan. Finn had fun too.

Unfortunately the military doesn't get family day off so Paul had to go back to Kingston sunday night. we were very sad to see him go. On family day, the boys and I just hung out and watched movies in the den. We even rocked out a little with rockband!!

This morning I took Finn to daycare and Logan to his bus. Then I vacuumed. Doing some cleaning and then I will pick up Logan from the bus and then take our comforter to be drycleaned. I have a fab coupon for 20% off!!! Then I have to pick up a couple of parcels from the post office. Then I will pop over to the Independent and then probably head over to walmart and food basics. There is a couple more things I need to pick up on sale and then I will do some more house cleaning before the boys come home.

Making spaghetti for supper tonight. Can't wait to use my super duper epicure pasta pot!

Can't believe 2 weeks till I go back to work. Life is going to get crazy busy!

Love Rae-Lynn, Paul, Logan and Finn

epic shopping trip to walmart

Had an epic shopping trip at walmart today.

5 sweaters $5 each = $25, regular price $15 each savings of $50.
French's mustard $1 - $.75 coupon = 25 cents
Multi grain cheerios $3.97 - $1 coupon = $2.97 plus there is a code for a free movie pass.
Aveeno daily moisturizer walmart price $7.47 or so, price match it to shoppers for $5.99 minus my $2 coupon = $3.99 savings of: $3.48
Cold Fx walmart price $23.00 price match to superstore for $16.77 - $4 printable = savings of $10.23 per bottle. Bought 3 bottles savings of $30.69
PGX walmart had the lowest price of $19.96 this week - $10 printable = $9.96 and I bought 3 so total savings of $30
Gaylea butter not sure what it was at walmart $3.33 maybe or more but pricematched it to independent for $2.99 and used my $1 off coupon. Bought 2 saved $2 minumum.
Ivory bodywash walmart price was $4.47 but I pricematched it to independent for $2.97 and used $3 off coupon from brandsaver making them free. I actually made 5 cents buying 5. Total savings $22.35 Since you pay tax on the pre-coupon amount each bottle cost me .38 for 701 ml.
Dove conditioner. Was $4.47 or so at walmart and I price matched it to independent for $2.99. no coupon. Savings up at least $1.50

Total retail cost before price matching and coupons was approximately: $242.33 and with taxes would have been: $273.83.

After my pricematching and coupons my total before tax was $107.32 after taxes of $20.69 my total was $128.01.

This would give me a total savings of $145.82 or 53%. Plus the free movie pass from the cheerios. I was very happy with this trip. The sweaters are great. I now have another 3 month supply of cold fx and pgx for the lowest prices that I have ever paid. I love price-matching and couponing.

Based on taxes of $20.69 doing some math they figured my taxes on $159.15 because they don't factor in the prices that they would charge for things without the pricematching. Example the sweaters were $5 but regular $15. I still only had to pay tax on the $5. But the PGX which was $19.96 I paid full taxes on $19.96 and then got my $10 off each bottle.

Total $ value of coupons used was: $62.75

On another note Sobeys has the philadelphia cream cheese dips on sale this week for $1.99. They were out of the dill pickle when I stopped by so they saved me from my myself.

I am excited about the free chocolate bar from Macs next week. http://www.mrsjanuary.com/canada-freebies/free-twix-peanut-butter-from-macs-with-coupon/

deals

A couple of deals I forgot about.

Multibionta vitamins are on sale this week for $11.99 at Shoppers drugmart. Use this $10 printable to score a great deal. If you copy and past that in your browser and it says operation is not allowed just click on that , may happen twice and then the coupon will pop up.

http://d3eyfryvja4bv8.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/multibionta_coupon_2012.pdf#referrer=extremecouponcanada.ca

The other sweet deal is chicken chunkies on for 2 for $10 at metro this week. Pair that with a $2 off chicken chunkies and you get 2 for $8 or $6 if you have 2 coupons.

Apparently French's mustard is on sale at wal-mart for $1. There was a 75 cents off coupon in the insert and you can also print your own at: http://frenchs.ca/en/promotions/coupon.php - $0.50 off French’s Mustard

update & couponing

My playdate last week got cancelled with Stephanie at the last minute. I ended up taking the boys to Wal-mart to the walk in clinic to get their shots. Finn was supposed to get 4 shots and Logan 1. The dr. said in Ontario they give 2 at 12 months and 2 more at 15 months instead of all 4 in one go but he agreed to it for me. Then they realized that one of them was expired so I just went with 2 shots and then will do another 2 for Finn at 15 months somehow schedule that in even though I will be working. Finn did his angry cry. Logan was a super duper tough guy and didn't cry at all so I promised him a popcorn party!!! Then we did a quick walmart shop around but didn't find any deals so we headed to Loblaws college square to try and get 1 year photos done for Finn. We got there and the girl said that she had to take care of the portrait studio, photo lab and electronics so it was best to make an appointment. We said thanx for wasting our time and left. I managed to pick up a good deal. Vintna crackers were on sale for 3 or 4 boxes for $5. I had a $1 off coupon so it was pretty sweet. I tried to find prime rib to price match it with the sale at no frills but couldn't find any at the walmart.

Then we stopped at value village and I scored a pair of spider man winter boots for Finn that are bigger so I can get his foot in easier. Not a big deal since he isn't walking yet. I also scored a pair of American Eagle jeans and Calvin Klein jeans for $9.99 each and Logan found an electronic book for $1.99 that Brenda has in Comox so I let him have it. I received a free reusable shopping bag since my purchase was over $25. I have also joined their supersavers club. Join at www.supersaverscard.com and you get a 25% off for your next purchase as well as advance notice of sales and other awesome deals!! I was then driving to freshco when we ran out of washer fluid so we stopped at the walmart supercenter on bank st to see if they had the prime rib and to get some washer fluid. They didn't. I got some washer fluid and then 2 dove bodywashes at $2.97 minus 2 $2 off coupons. Logan wanted some bubble bath witch was $2.98 so I bought 9 charmin toilet seat covers at $1 each and used my Save $4 when you buy 3 coupon. This created a $3 overage and gave me a great discount on the bubble bath. We headed to the car and I put in the wiper fluid. It was tricky getting my hood open. It is being finicky these days.

Then we were off to freshco. I called Kevin and Karina to see if they would watch the boys while I went to freshco because Logan has been asking for Uncle Kevin and Auntie Karina and they said no problem so I dropped off the boys and headed to Freshco. They also didn't have the prime rib roast but I picked up 2 rib roasts at 50% off for $6.50 and $6 each. I picked up 2 purex at $3.97 each and used my save $2.50 when you buy 2 coupon. I also picked up the $3.97 milk bag of lactancia and it came with $6 of coupons on it. There was $1 off black diamond cheese 200,300 or 500g, $1 off black diamond cheese strings, $1 off astro yogurt, $1 off any 2 2l or 4l lactancia, and I can't remember the other ones right now. Was $6 in coupons. I bought 2 bags. Oh yeah I bought Pam for $4.57 or so and used my $1 off coupon and then I had a buy 1 pam and get $2 off eggs so my eggs were .65 after the coupon. Was an alright deal. would have been better if Pam was on sale but I needed eggs and didn't want to make a trip anywhere else. Then I picked up the kids and we headed home for supper. Then because I promised Logan we had our popcorn party after bathtime and then he went to bed just after 2100. Was a later night.

Thursday Logan had school and then after that we packed up and headed to Auntie Julia and Uncle Georges for a visit. We had a wonderful visit and she gave me a couple awesome bags of clothes for Finn and I gave her some coupons!! We got home for supper time and then bedtime for the kids. Laundry for me to do and then watched Greys and Private practice. I now do my laundry and run the dishwasher between the hours of 1900 and 0700 to get the cheapest electricity rates. I can actually program the dishwasher and washer to delay starting by a certain number of hours.

Wednesday night I also found a childcare provider close to us that will take both kids and made an appointment to go and see her on friday after Logan had school. We headed there and I still have to make up my mind. Price wise it is alright. Cheaper than alot of other places that I have heard of. Pro is that she can take both kids, Logan can still ride his bus to and from school from her place. her hours are 0700-1645 which works for me as well. Cons are that she has a macau and 2 dogs. I am fine with the 2 dogs but the macau is insane. I was only there for 45 minutes and it was driving me crazy. She had a flood in her house so her basement was the daycare but now it needs to be fixed so everything is on the main floor. The bird is in a huge cage in the corner. There was crap all over the cage and apparently they can crap on you if you are near the cage. On top of that it screeches all the time when it isn't getting enough attention. The first few times Finn was fine but then he would lower his head and start to cry. I found it very annoying but Logan loved the daycare and the bird. I am still going to keep on looking. Another pro was that she gets 3 weeks holiday unpaid. Lots of places get paid vacation and then you have to take your kids somewhere else during that time so you pay double. I would have to pay when the kids aren't there which is pretty standard but I was spoiled by Brenda in BC and only had to pay half of what I would pay if it was full time. Hopefully I can find a place that I love as much as Brenda and Janice in BC.

After that Auntie Kelly popped over with a birthday present for Finn and to drop off my epicure order and the orders from the party. I texted Karina to see when she wanted me to drop off and she said they could pick it up so we invited them for supper. I was planning on heating up my mexican lassagna and I had it thawing out all day. I was planning a caesar salad and extraordinary dip for the appy. Paul got home just as we were loaded up to go to the independent so I was able to leave the kids with him and go on my own. I picked up romaine, cream cheese, graham crumbs, and chocolate crumbs, dream whip, and the gay lea gold sour cream was on sale for $2 and I had 2 $1 off coupons so I picked up 2 containers, and 4 avocados for $5. The best deal was the french cross chardonnay on the way out of the store that was on sale for $35 for 4L instead of $40.

I headed back home and whipped up the extraordinary dip and used the epicure caesar and made that dressing. Karina opened up her guacamole from epicure and we made that too. It was phenomenal. I will be ordering some of that. Then when I took the tin foil off of the mexican lassagna it wasn't mexican lassagna. It was the epicure chicken breasts. They are delicious so we just had those instead. It was lovely. Man I love the extraordinary dip!!! Erin and Andy popped over later on as well and picked up her order. Still waiting on the baby!!! Was a nice visit with them too!

Saturday we made our way down to Dows Lake so we could skate on the rideau canal. We drove around the lot and couldn't find parking so we kept looking elsewhere. Then we ran to the superstore at westboro because I wanted a hard copy of their flyer and I wanted to pick up the cold fx that were on sale for $16.77. We picked up 2 bottles because that was all they had at the sale price. It was one per customer but there was 4 of us. We did the self checkout and had no issues. Then we headed back to dows lake to try and skate again. We found parking on a side street 3-4 blocks away. We parked and loaded up Finn in the stroller with all of our gear. As we were walking down the street Kelly and Michael recognized my hat and called us over. I was in my own little world. They had planned to skate as well but it didn't work out so they were heading home. They lent us Owen's helmet since we forgot Logans. We headed out to skate. I lasted 5 minutes on my skates. I really had to go the bathroom and there wasn't one around so I knew that if I fell I would pee my pants. Both would be horrible. The ice is very bumpy and rough so I didn't want to chance falling and getting hurt worse that I already am. I have major body pain these days so more pain would be awful. My feet are killing me in the morning and my wrists are killing me at night. Very painful to try and do pushups. Back hurts on and off as well. So I put my boots back on. Logan did a really good job and kept his skates on for around 20 minutes or so. Then he wanted his boots back on so we swapped them back on. Paul took Finn in the stroller for a big skate. Logan and I waited for the Giant Tiger "train" to come so we could go for a ride. It was a truck pulling 3 train cars. It went around a km or so and back in a loop. Was fun but got chilly just sitting there. I was freezing by the time we got back to the beginning to go to the car. Paul found us with Finn and we got to wave to them as they were skating. They even found a bathroom together and some taffy. We made it back to the car and then had to rush rush home since we were invited for supper at Stephanie and Brendans. We picked up dessert and french bread, rushed home, then Paul had a quick shower and we packed up and headed over there. I was also delivering Stephanie's epicure order. We had a wonderful supper that was so delicious. Pork loin and potatoes, and these decadent tomatoe treats. We had a great visit as well. Paul did basic training with Brendan and I have known Stephanie since 2003. After supper I held the baby a bit and then Stephanie and I did some coupon trading and sorting. Paul and Brendan, Logan and Connor headed to the basement to watch some hockey. After we were sorted out Stephanie and I headed to Walmart to make a quick trip for some deals.

Here is what I got:
PGX 90 caplets $19.96 minus the $10 printable save on foods coupon. = $9.96
Crest trial size pro health rinse $1 - $1 off p&g any crest pro health rinse = free
Crest glide floss $3.98 - coupon for free glide floss when you buy crest pro health rinse = free.
mini carrots $1
activia strawberry 650 g tub $3.97 pm to $2.39 from canadian tire flyer - $1 off activia coupon mailed to me by the company for watching their video = $1.39. savings of $2.38
Immunity fx price matched to superstore for $16.77 - $8 printable = $8.77
Cold fx 60 price match to superstore for $16.77 - $4 printable = $12.77
Babybel 6 pack price matched to $2.99 from no frills and used the $1 coupon attached to the package. Bought 2 packs. Was $4.77 at walmart so savings of $5.54
Black diamond cheese strings 16 pack price matched to no frills for $4.44 and used $1 off coupon. Bought 2. I believe they were $6.60 or so at walmart before the price match so I saved $6.32.

The pgx and cold fx were one per person so I had Stephanie grab 1 of each for me as well and I paid her back.

We pricematched ruffles at 2 for $4 for her which were $2.50 each at walmart. Saved her $2 on the purchase of 4. price matched Tide at Cdn tire and used a $1 off. price matched 12 pepsi from metro for $2.99 for her. She also was able to use the buy anyt venus razor and cartridges and save $10. Razor was $9.88 and came with 3 cartridges and cartridges were $10.18 or so so she got a pretty good deal.

While we were shopping around I found a huge rack of clearance pajamas on for $5 down from $12. I figured that this would be a good go if they didn't scan for $5 then we would get them for free since the scanning code of practice. We each picked up a pair. Logan is good to go right now so I picked up the 6X size. Stephanie went first in line so it scanned at $7 so she got hers for free. Then when we did mine the cashier automatically corrected it before the computer scanned it wrong so I didn't get mine for free so I didn't get them. The cashier said that once they know of an error in the system they have to correct it before it scans wrong. So after I did my transaction my subtotal was $44.75 , $7.60 in taxes and $52.35 out of pocket + 27 to Stephanie for my cold fx and pgx.

Total paid was $79.35. $value of coupons used was $32. Savings due to pricematching on top of that.

Then I took the pajamas to a different cashier and they still hadn't corrected the system so they scanned at $7 and I got them for free!!! The lady that didn't give it to me the first time was the supervisor so she didn't seem pleased that I got it for free from a different cashier but oh well. Sweet deal!!!

I have added the most awesome tool to my repertoire while shopping. I take my ipad with me and I use the website flyeronfire.com Every week they input all of the flyers in to this database. It mainly uses the flyers from Ottawa. So while I was shopping I saw the babybel with the $1 off coupons attached to them. I inputted babybel and it popped up that they were $2.99 at no frills. There is a link to the flyer and what page of the flyer they are on, then I used my ipad to show the cashier the price on checkout. Worked awesome. I used it for the ruffles for Steph, the tide, my pgx which walmart was already the cheapest. I also had the hard copies of all of the flyers except for no frills. Such a sweet system I have going now.

Then we headed back to Stephs. It was now 2230 and we headed home to bed.

Today we got up and had breakfast and headed to mass at the base church. It was wonderful. Logan had a peanut butter and banana wrap for lunch (recipe I learned from Bobbi Lalumiere) Paul and I had the left over half breast of chicken from friday night chopped up into 2 wraps each with romaine, tomatoes and cheese. Delicious.

Paul is working on his homework as I update my blog and then we are heading to the hill near Logan's school for some sledding!!! Will post pics and a video shortly.

This week Kelly is coming over on Tuesday to help me organize the kitchen better so that will be fun!!Still have to work on finding childcare etc.

Love Rae-Lynn Paul, Logan and Finn.
