First Shopping Trip

Posted: 16 May 2011 03:17 AM PDT

Not sure if this is the proper forum...please excuse if I have it wrong!

Hubby and I went out yesterday afternoon and stopped in a few stores...Harris Teeter, Food Lion & Dollar General.

Long story short...

OOP $76.01
Coupon savings $26.60
Store card savings $12.03

Plus I went in CVS and picked up a customer card and bought a Sunday paper!

Not as good as others, but nice for my first trip! Hubby was impressed!

Any other couponers from Texas City? I would like to start an IRL coupon exchange in TC, if there isn't one already.:couponlove:

small space stockpiling

Posted: 16 May 2011 03:12 AM PDT

I'm new to maximizing my couponing, and would like to start a stockpile. I am limited on space (read: very small house). Should I look into a storage building in the backyard? We don't even have room under the beds, that is dog territory and other storage.

Where do you live if you are able to double coupons?

Posted: 16 May 2011 02:50 AM PDT

I am trying to find a good area to convince hubby to retire to that is able to double coupons. Wont be for a few years but I like to do some research now at least.

So where do you live and are able to double/triple? What stores are doing it in your area?

Posted: 16 May 2011 02:40 AM PDT

As a teacher, I always had band aids in my desk.* I learned early on that a great excuse to get out of class was asking for a pass to the nurse to get a band aid.* Over time, band aids got fun, so...

dumpster divers in jail

Posted: 16 May 2011 02:30 AM PDT

I just finished reading 19 pages of comments about this issue and first, wow-a lot of opinions. Second, I understand all of the different views but to point something out-one thing I kept reading was "its not illegal because once it is in the garbage-its trash". This is incorrect for two reasons-first-it just plain is. As of 2001 it was officially illegal to obtain-rummage-or pilfer any parts of ones garbage other than ones own. This was due largely to lobbying by celebs in lieu of Princess Diana's car crash, and the whole Ashley Judd stalker thing. Paparazzi and others were found to be guilty of crimes when it was proven that they had indeed obtained information about celebs through such means as going through their garbage. Now more than ever-there is also the identity theft issue. So-NO-it is actually not legal to take even if it is in the trash. Second-the dumpsters are not public property-so even if it was legal to take trash (which it isn't)-it would still be illegal to take it from a privately owned dumpster or recycling center.
I wish there was a better way for people to get coupons free without all the hassle. For example; what if there was a PUBLIC owned (ie-taxpayer bought or donated) dumpster? Than maybe we who don't use our qs could speciffically put our inserts in there and then take the rest of the papers on to be recycled? That would be great.
All in all it just makes me wish I lived on Sesame street. Then I could just go and knock on Oscar's can and ask him for the inserts! ;)

Another question....

Posted: 16 May 2011 02:03 AM PDT

I had purchased 10 $1 Purex coupons on ebay since it's $1.99 at the commissary. Well, I went to the commissary today and they didn't have but a few, so I placed an order for them. They gave me the paper to fill out, and I went and wrote down the sku, quantity and price. Well, since tomorrow is the 16th, and if the prices change, will I still be able to get them for $1.99?...or will I have to pay the new price (if they change)?

Anyone know?? Thanks. :help1:

REDBOX deal for skittles and starburst

Posted: 16 May 2011 01:56 AM PDT

Just found out there is an unadvertised deal where if you buy 3 starburst or skittles which are on sale for .39 this week it prints out a free redbox rental CAT. I did this six time yesterday and know that it works and has to be a purchase of 3 because i tried just getting 2. i think this is a better deal than the one for the tostios. It comes to 1.17 for all three plus tax.
